User Reviews

a great show it once was, but not anymore....
29 January 2006 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Rugrats, aside from Doug, was the first Nicktoon I liked in the early 90s, when I was about 8 or 9. It instantly became one of my all time favorites, everything from what the babies interpreted stuff as, to the adventures they went on.. including an old episode called "My Friend Barney" where Chuckie creates an imaginary friend named "Barney" who is the alter-ego of everything he wished he was, which in my opinion had a very eerily similar resemblance to "Fight Club", and of course the classic endless battles between Stu and Drew pickles, including one hilarious black & white flashback episode..

And then, Rugrats was cancelled around 1994 or so, with nothing but reruns.. The only new ones that came out were a few holiday episodes... a hilarious Passover episode and a just as hilarious Hanukkah episode, and a very touching Mother's Day episode which revelaed the reason why Chuckie doesn't have a mom, and might I say, the ending of that episode actually got me to shed a few tears..., but those episodes just weren't enough.. I wanted new ones, but little did I know that wanting new episodes of this would be my biggest regret.

Finally in 1997, new episodes were made, aand they weren't as good. Episode titles appeared in black letters instead of red, the animation was slightly different, Grandpa had a new voice(the original voice of him died), and the show just, wasn't as funny.. And then in 1998, came the official demise, with the arrival of the horribly annoying "Baby Dill" character... and as if that wasn't it, then came the horrid "All Grown Up" RIP Rugrats, 1991-1994
