Wamg At The Winnie The Pooh Junket

15 July 2011 7:27 AM, PDT | WeAreMovieGeeks.com | See recent WeAreMovieGeeks.com news »

Well, hello all of you crazy kids out there! It’s your nerd with the word, Melissa here, and I have a treat for you…

Recently, I got to attend the Winnie The Pooh junket at Disney Animation Studios. I was like a kid in a candy store! Not only do I love movies… but I love to draw! Hooray!

We started the day with a screening of the movie Winnie The Pooh with an introduction by the Producer, Peter Del Vecho.

Next, I got to go into the recording booth and attempt to do a voiceover for Piglet. They showed me a clip from the new film, and then I had to read the script while attempting to also see when Piglet’s mouth was moving. It was really hard, but super fun! (So, if anyone wants to hire me… I am tooootally available! Hint, Hint… Wink, Wink!) Even »

Interview: 1:1 With Jim Cummings On 'Winnie The Pooh'

13 July 2011 8:21 PM, PDT | ShockYa | See recent ShockYa news »

There are so many interviews with live action actors that we do in the press field that it’s practically coming out of our ears, so when we get the chance to talk to voice actors it’s quite a thrill. However, when I got the chance to participate in the “Winnie the Pooh” junket, there was one person I was completely excited to talk to. That person was Jim Cummings, a man who’s voiced several Disney characters from the eighties to now including Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Darkwing Duck, Pete, Don Carnage and many others. If you watched at least a couple of Disney shows throughout the nineties, his voice was »

Geek Girl Navigating the World – The Frustrations of Collecting DVDs

25 May 2011 6:29 AM, PDT | Boomtron | See recent Boomtron news »

It can be difficult being a geek, especially when it comes to the things that you like to spend your disposable income purchasing. This becomes especially frustrating if you’re one of those geeks that really likes buying DVDs of favorite TV shows or cartoons.

I’m a big fan of animation.  One of my favorite shows is Rocky & Bullwinkle (later to become The Bullwinkle Show).  I, of course, am not old enough to have watched the original run of the show, but I’ve seen quite a bit of it in syndication and on the few video tapes of it that were released several years ago.  I was ecstatic to discover that the show was being released in full season sets on DVD while browsing the shelves in the electronics section of a local department store. The sets were released once a year for three years and then, all of the sudden, »

Geek Girl Navigating the World – The Joy of Free Comic Book Day

11 May 2011 12:58 PM, PDT | Boomtron | See recent Boomtron news »

Geek Christmas comes in May.  No, really.  If you are or know a comic book geek, then you know that Free Comic Book Day was on Saturday, May 7, this year.  It’s one of my favorite days of the year because I get free comic books, which means that I get to try out all kinds of new titles without having to shell out a whole lot of money.  It would also be the one Saturday a year that you’ll find me not just perfectly willing but eager to set my alarm clock so I can be sure that I get up on time.

I refused to miss Free Comic Book Day this year.  I’ve only missed two of them, and there have been 10 now.  Last year was one of the ones that I missed.  I knew that I was going to, though, because I had planned a little vacation. »

Warren Spector-Penned 'DuckTales' Comics Coming In May, Hinting At A New Game?

18 February 2011 2:19 PM, PST | MTV Multiplayer | See recent MTV Multiplayer news »

"DuckTales." Who doesn't love that series? It stars Donald Duck's irascible, penny-pinching Uncle Scrooge McDuck, who swims around in his towering vault filled with money. It was also the subject of a '90s TV cartoon series and a pair of excellent Nes games. And now it's going to be featured in a new comic book series from Boom! Studios penned by "Epic Mickey" and "Deus Ex" designer, Warren Spector.

Spector's run of "DuckTales" comics kicks off in May with art from Miquel Pujol. The first issue will be released with two covers, featuring art from Leonel Castellani and James Silvani. Boom! also recently launched a line of "Darkwing Duck" comics (basically a duck-billed Batman) as part of its Disney Afternoon Revolution. "DuckTales" is similarly part of the Revolution, and it will be set in the same universe as "Darkwing."

The big news here for we gamers is Spector's involvement. »
