Then the witness' dog is discovered missing.

Rachel and Tony have a loud, screaming fight about the need for her to have her own office and Tony leaves in anger for a body found. Tony recognizes the victim as a guy who can get anything for a price. Rachel stops in to the bank to find out about a loan to make the new office when she and the bank manager realize the bank is being robbed. There are 10 people inside the bank and they are now hostages. Bank robber is talked into releasing the hostages but decides he needs one so that he has some bargaining power and decides to keep the manager who tells him that Rachel would be a better hostage as she is the Commissioner's wife.

David and his girlfriend find a dead body, whom everyone recognizes as a man with a gambling problem. Word on the street says the perpetrator is a new man, known by a nickname. Rachel invites the Fishers for dinner as she thinks they should get to know the girlfriend's family. Everyone's getting along so well Mr. Fisher tells Tony to call him by his nickname.

Season 3, Episode 18: Security

A young woman is attacked in her apartment building but the suspect is stopped when the manager realizes something is amiss. While the manager and Tony are discussing options with the other residents, their apartments are burglarized. The police squad is going to do security checks but are replaced by a security company. Tony goes to the building anyway and as he's meeting the new security man, the young gang shows up with the missing items and they're sporting injuries like black eyes and wrapped wrists. Rachel's father shows up uncharacteristically and plans to stay a few days.

A drunk driver kills the wife of one of Tony's men and, because the driver is a doctor, the judge suspends his sentence.

Season 3, Episode 20: The Letter of the Law

A young mother witnesses a mugging where suspect is someone who has caused great harm in previous incidents. The mother wavers in deciding to testify. When they've found that she has disappeared and there is no record of anyone with that name or social security number, Tony is out to find her and the daughter. Turns out mom caught the dad touching the daughter inappropriately and she divorced him and disappeared with the little girl. Will the Letter of the Law be followed to return the girl to her father?

Season 3, Episode 21: Sergeant Kelly

Stan Kelly has taken the sergeant's test and feels it necessary to prove how tough he is to the other officers. Stan also asks the commissioner to allow him to see his own tip from an informant through. Officer Kelly gets an abused wife to cooperate with surveillance on her husband. Is any of this worth it to become sergeant?

Season 3, Episode 22: The Iceman Cometh

Stan's killer tells Tony "you took my wife, I'm going to take yours". Ross has been bragging to the other inmates that he's hired the best hitman in the business, the Iceman. Cyd calls in the FBI when a bullet misses Tony and the whole family is moved to a safe house. Someone shows up saying he is the FBI agent they're expecting.

Season 4, Episode 1: Against the Wind: Part 1

After being struck with a bUlley, Tony is hospitalized and it looks like he is going to be permanently paralyzed. But his family refuses to give up on him, and enlists the help of physiotherapist Dan Boylan to help him walk again. With Tony out of commission, Cyd is put in charge of the murder investigation of officer Joe Ratowski.

A prisoner, whom Tony arrested before his trial and conviction, is executed on death row in Pennsylvania. The next day a prisoner in Albany State Prison confesses to the murders for which the other man was executed. The family files a wrongful death suit and Tony is one of the defendants. Then, in a meeting with Tony, the confessor says if Tony will clear him of the two murders for which he's to be executed, he will admit to lying about the murders for which the original convict was executed.

A murder is committed while a fundraiser for the mayor is being held. A beautiful, classy British woman is suspected. Tony's mentor pays a visit and asks if Tony needs a "consultant". The next day an stockbroker/biker wannabe is found murdered. The mentor wonders if it's the same killer and looks for similarities. This woman suspect is leather and tattoo chick and doesn't look like artist's drawing. The following day a body is found at the country club at the golf course and the suspect is a perky blonde with a rose tattoo.

Season 5, Episode 3: Father Image: Part 2

Tony and his mentor have solved the case, so why is Tony so uneasy? He tells Rachel he feels like the mentor is living through him and "putting him in the big league". How did Tony happen to find a key piece of evidence exactly as they had in a case previously?

Season 5, Episode 4: Redemption

11 January 1996
A clothing manufacturer's sweatshop is burned down. The Jewish Temple is vandalized. An Asian storeowner is harassed. Rachel's father (who buys the cloth for the sweatshop) has a new girlfriend (younger than Rachel) and is as disappointing to Rachel as always. Mr. Metzger has a heart attack but, before he dies, he tells a story about the two of them going to the circus. While Tony and Rachel are clearing out her father's apartment she is surprised at the things he has kept over the years but Tony finds a ledger hidden underneath a drawer. The book contains dates and dollar amounts; the first two dates are two fires in sweatshops and the other two dates are approaching.
