Civil Wars (1991–1993)
Well, I can’t put it off any longer no matter how hard I try. And believe me, I’ve tried.
The last time I started a column with those words we were engaged in a not-so-great Civil War. It’s how I began my multi-column series on Marvel’s Civil War II. Today we turn to the aftermath of Civil War II. Call it Marvel’s Reconstruction Era, only the historical one was probably less painful.
Inhuman Ulysses Cain predicted future crimes. Captain Marvel arrested everyone the predictions said would commit some future crime and put them in jail. I wrote about why this was against the law. You know, it’s a pity that this Captain Marvel is forcing a perfectly respectable Captain Marvel to call himself Shazam.
One of the future criminals Captain Marvel imprisoned was Allison Green. Problem was, the prediction about Allison was wrong.
If you loved Avatar: The Last Airbender, you undoubtedly enjoyed the spin-off, The Legend of Korra. Despite being cut shorter than fans would have liked, the series has garnered a strong following and critical praise. If you missed out on the series, or simply want to enjoy it again and again, you're in luck.
Today comes that announcement that the entire series is coming to blu-ray in one tidy package, complete with bonus features to enjoy. The blu-ray is set to release on December 13, 2016, just in time for the holidays. Check out the full press release below for more details:

Civil wars tend to inflame passions, even ones involving fictional worlds. Just ask my nine-year-old son, who left a showing of Captain America: Civil War furious at Iron Man’s actions toward Captain America. He couldn’t understand how Iron Man could treat Captain America that way and was so mad that he still refuses to see

A+E Studios’ adaptation of Roots is to receive its world premiere at Miptv in Cannes on April 4.
Based on Alex Haley’s 1976 novel, which was made into a seminal 1977 TV series, the new adaptation is described as a historical portrait of American slavery recounting the journey of one family’s will to survive.
The narrative spans multiple generations, beginning with young Kunta Kinte, who is captured in his homeland in the Gambia and transported in brutal conditions to colonial America, where he’s sold into slavery.
Throughout the series, the family continues to face adversity while bearing witness and contributing to notable events in Us history - including the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, slave uprisings and eventual emancipation.
Kunta Kinte is played by UK actor and former Screen Star of Tomorrow Malachi Kirby (Gone Too Far), who will attend the premiere screening
The final masterpiece from legendary Japanese filmmaker Akira Kurosawa, Ran, which translates as ‘turmoil’, is Kurosawa’s meditation on Shakespeare’s King Lear crossed with the history of Japan’s 16th century Civil Wars and the legend of Morikawa, a feudal warlord with three sons.
Hidetora Ichimonji (Tatsuya Nakadai – Yojimbo, Kagemusha) an ageing warlord who, after spending his life consolidating his empire, decides to abdicate and divide his kingdom amongst his three sons, Taro (Akira Terao – Letter from the Mountain, Dreams), Jiro (Jinpachi Nezu – The Man in White, Red Shadow: Akakage) and Saburo (Daisuke Ryû – Tono monogatari, Gojo reisenki: Gojoe). When Hidetora’s youngest son Saburo voices concerns about the wisdom of his father’s plan, claiming that treachery within the family will be inevitable,

This is no knock whatsoever on #TeamGwen — home to two of my favorite Season 9 contestants. It’s just that at every turn, executive producer Mark Burnett & Co. have not-so-subtly been the Zola Budd to her Mary Decker.
If you’re new to Nashville, you might not know that Deacon once had the cutest dog in the world, but he gave it away to a perfectly good ex whose biggest flaw was that she wasn’t Rayna. That dog’s name? Sue — a nod to Mr. Johnny Cash.
And while I’m sure Deke saved himself a lot of besmirched carpets, way-too-early morning walks and chewed furniture, he also denied himself — and all of us! — the special cuddly comfort a pup provides during rough times.
