According to the series pilot, the character 'Six' was named because of the number of beers her parents drank the night of Six's conception. This minutiae was downplayed later in the series, referring to her birth order instead.
In the pilot Blossom's parents were married.
Though she plays the youngest child of the family, Mayim Bialik is actually four months older than Joseph Lawrence. Bialik's birthday is December 12,1975 and Lawrence's birthday is April 20, 1976.
A writer from the show named the character "Six" after a friend he knew from high school whose name is Seven.
This was the last series Ted Wass acted in and the first he directed.
The show often contained references to another NBC show, Seinfeld (1989), and vice versa.

In the pilot, the younger of Blossom's elder brothers was called Donnie. In the series he was renamed Joey. The role was played by Joseph Lawrence in both titles.
