Where ‘Fargo’ and ‘Legion’ Are Made: Inside Noah Hawley’s Office

18 August 2016 9:45 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Noah Hawley did the impossible, twice. His limited series reinvention of the Coen brothers’ beloved film “Fargo” racked up 36 Emmy nominations over two seasons. When in Southern California, the Austin, Texas-based scribe works out of a Santa Monica office complex, where his increasingly busy schedule includes “Legion” and “Cat’s Cradle” for FX in addition to a third installment of “Fargo.” His office centerpiece — a hand-crafted modernized standing desk from Austin shop Mockingbird Domestics — epitomizes his status as a man on the move. “It’s like something you would’ve seen in Ebenezer Scrooge’s office,” Hawley says. “But there’s a steampunk element to the metalwork as well. As they say in ‘The Big Lebowski,’ ‘it really pulls the room together.’”

A framed photo of Hawley’s mother as a girl at her mother’s typewriter emphasizes that writing is in the genes. “I’m really the third-generation writer,” Hawley »

TV Supporting Actors Shine in Colorful Ensembles Like ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘Silicon Valley’

7 June 2016 11:00 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

The set of every TV series is like a family, or so we’ve been told, but come awards time, not every supporting cast member in an ensemble series family will make the cut for an Emmy nomination. And for some actors, that’s Ok.

“It’s the old saying that it’s about supporting each other telling the story as best as you can,” says Gwendoline Christie, who plays Brienne on “Game of Thrones.”

But is it harder to get recognition in an ensemble series? “This way madness lies,” Christie says. “I could never think, ‘Oh, I’m competing against someone else,’ because the reason I do this job is to investigate and illuminate humanity, and if I’m able to have a good time doing that, then I’ve enjoyed my job and hopefully done it well.”

Celebrate Clarissa Explains It All's 25th Anniversary with 15 Things You Might Want Explained About the Show

1 March 2016 12:45 PM, PST | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

Clarissa Explains It All premiered in March 1991, meaning that this month it celebrates its 25th anniversary. Yep, if Clarissa Darling were around today (and had been aging in real-world time since the show first debuted), she'd be 38 years old, maybe even with a 13-year-old Clarissa of her own. It's not just that the Melissa Joan Hart sitcom was a popular show for pre-teen girls or even pre-teens in general; it's that it helped established a network identity for the channel it was on, a still-young Nickelodeon, and helped shape a lot of similarly focused shows that aired throughout the rest of the '90s. »

10 Questions We Hope Fuller House Answers About Our Beloved Tanner Family

25 February 2016 9:10 AM, PST | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

We could have called the Veronica Mars movie. We could have guessed that Twin Peaks would get a reprieve from cancellation. And it made sense that The X-Files would get a follow-up series. But Full House? All these years later? This is one we didn't see coming. We got eight seasons and 192 episodes detailing the life lessons learned by Danny Tanner (Bob Saget), his three daughters and all the other people who came through the beautiful San Francisco Victorian they called home. And yet we're getting more in the form of Fuller House - this Friday, in fact, in true Tgif style. »

Looking Back On Our Exclusive Interview with Big Bang Theory’s Mayim Bialik

19 January 2016 12:30 PM, PST | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

Mayim Bialik has come a long way since her days on Blossom.  She’s managed to carve out a dream role for herself by playing girlfriend of Sheldon Cooper, Amy Farrah Fowler.  Both the show and her character have developed immensely over the show’s run.  What began as a very robotic Sheldon type of character has become one of a hilarious, smart, loving, and open person. What was once a hard shell on the outside has opened up immensely and fans have really taken to her character.  What’s interested is how things have changed in the last 5-6 years since we
