Star Trek Sequel Signs Robocop Star Peter Weller for Undisclosed Role

The highly anticipated sci-fi sequel from director Jj Abrams and featuring a returning cast of Chris Pine, Zachery Quinto and Zoe Saldana is scheduled for 3D theatrical release in May 2013. Paramount Pictures has locked Star Trek 2 for 3D theatrical release on May 17, 2013. The film, which will begin production in early 2012, will also be shot in 3D. The entirety of the main cast, including Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg and Zachary Quinto, are expected to reprise their roles. Jj Abrams will direct and Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Damon Lindelof are returning for the script duties. Peter Weller, who rose to fame portraying cyborg police officer from the future Alex Murphy in the 1980's films Robocop and Robocop II, has recently landed a role in the Star Trek sequel.
