Character error

In the beginning scenes of Jay flying his last mission, his backseat officer, who is also his good friend, continually refers to him as "sir." In the real Navy, fighter crews of roughly equal rank are a close-knit group, and would rarely use the formal word "sir." Instead, they would use first names or nicknames. This is especially true when the two aviators are close pals, as Jay and his backseater are.

Continuity

After Jay finds the Texan lying in the seat of the car (with blood splats from coughing on his white, crumpled shirt), the next scene shows Jay driving down the road and the Texan sitting on the passenger side with the same shirt, freshly starched and stain free at this point.

Factual errors

Miryea asks Jay how he knows Spanish, Jay responds that he was stationed in Madrid for three years. Naval Aviators are required to make so many hours of flying time per month to retain their wings, so the nearest Naval Base would be at Rota, Spain. Rota is far from Madrid and due South of Lisbon, Portugal.

During Jay's farewell party, several of the attendees can be seen wearing their covers (hats and caps). This is incorrect; Navy regulations state that covers may be worn indoors only during formal military ceremonies.

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

After Jay and Miryea are through walking on the beach, Jay offers to make some lemonade. As he fumbles around nervously at his beach house, he ends up attempting to to make lemonade with what appears to be a bag of limes, instead of lemons. However, in Mexico yellow lemons are very rare. "Limones" are green and used to make "limonada".
