Roberts: Pregnancy In the Lap of the Gods

8 December 2003 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Hollywood star Julia Roberts has adopted a philosophical attitude about her struggle to get pregnant - she's now leaving conception to the "will of heaven". The Pretty Woman star has reportedly been trying for a baby since marrying cameraman Daniel Moder last year, and has been unable to conceive - but the 34-year-old is refusing to let it get her down. She says, "I think children fall into the category of the will of heaven. And I don't really have a timetable for the will of heaven." Roberts, speaking in an interview on American TV Thursday also paid tribute to her husband, who she shares a "very profound and positive relationship" with. She adds, "I could go on all day about pontificating on the fabulousness of the good fortune of my marriage." »

Sutherland Thanks Roberts for Ditching Him

29 September 2003 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Kiefer Sutherland is relieved one-time love Julia Roberts dumped him before they wed - but didn't feel that way at the time. The 24 actor was heartbroken when his Pretty Woman fiance, his co-star in 1990's Flatliners, fled their impending Hollywood nuptials with actor Jason Patric in 1991. And while the loss of love and the public humiliation were difficult, Kiefer now acknowledges that Roberts made a good choice. He says, "Julia was right, you know. It's a terrible thing when people decide to get married when they should actually be breaking up. She was smart enough to know that, thank God, but it didn't make dealing with at that time any easier." »

Roberts 'Closer' to Blanchett Role

23 September 2003 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Superstar Julia Roberts is in talks to play the lead in new film Closer after Cate Blanchett dropped out from the role. Blanchett last week quit the film after announcing she's pregnant with her second child, so The Graduate director Mike Nichols approached the Pretty Woman actress to take over in his adaptation of Patrick Marber's play. Jude Law, Natalie Portman and Clive Owen are also on board for the film, about the tangled relationship between two couples after a man from one and woman from the other have an affair. Blanchett is currently wrapping up Martin Scorsese's The Aviator, a Howard Hughes biopic. She will then go to Italy to shoot Wes Anderson's The Life Aquatic alongside Bill Murray, Owen Wilson and Anjelica Huston before her baby is due next year. Roberts will next appear in Mona Lisa Smile, followed by Ocean's Twelve, Steven Soderbergh's follow-up to his 2001 heist flick. »

Julia Looking for Baby Delivery Help

23 January 2003 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Oscar-winning actress Julia Roberts' vie for motherhood seems to have been successful - she's now looking for an obstetrician. A month ago, reports emerged that the Pretty Woman star was attending America's Cornell Medical Center for fertility treatments and most recently she called a favor from an old friend that she helped out in the past. A source tells American showbiz website Page Six, "She put a friend of hers, Michael, through medical school in New York. "Just a couple of weeks ago, Julia called him up and said, 'So - can you deliver babies?'" Unfortunately for Julia, who's married to cameraman Danny Moder, Michael is not an obstetrician or gynecologist and can't help his generous pal. Roberts' spokeswoman has no comment. »

George Causes Friction in Julia's Marriage

8 January 2003 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

The blossoming friendship between Hollywood A-list pals George Clooney and Julia Roberts is causing friction with the Pretty Woman star's husband, Danny Moder. Moder, her husband of four months, has told Roberts he is unhappy about her relationship with heart-throb Clooney, 41, and the fact they always seem to be working together. A friend of Clooney told British magazine Closer, "Julia's almost been spending more time with George than with her husband, and Danny's not happy." Having spent most of 2001 making and promoting Ocean's Eleven, they are now preparing for the release of Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind, in which Clooney directed Roberts. According to Clooney's friend they were very close on set: "They were always disappearing together and when they returned, they were all smiles." Molder, 33, even visited the Toronto set at one stage to see what was happening between the pair. Clooney's friend says, "When Danny got there, Julia just laughed the whole thing off and insisted that he was being paranoid. She said she and George were doing nothing more than playing video games and making crank calls to the hotel staff." »
