Episode Recap: Hawaii Five-0 - 1.02: "Ohana"

29 September 2010 12:47 PM, PDT | TVStar | See recent TVStar news »

It seems that Hawaii 5-0 (TV) is settling in, as it were, to the weekly routine of catching a case and then catching the bad guy. But, they keep the action taught, at least, as this episode opens with what amounts to a car jacking on steroids. And honestly, this episode also served as a reminder that you can apparently do anything with an iPhone. We meet ex-nsa specialist Roland Lowry (Scott Cohen), waking his kid, Evan (Colin Ford) up via vid-phone conference. Suddenly, Roland's SUV is t-boned by another van, and heavily armed Serbians come pouring out. People are killed, Roland and his super-secret-looking briefcase are kidnapped, and poor Evan is left screaming for his dad over the still-intact iPhone. iPhones can survive a car crash and gunfire and not even crack the screen! Back at the McGarrett house, Steve (Alex O'Loughlin) is having daddy problems of his own, »

Episode Two of Universal Dead

Web series Universal Dead has released episode 2, and finally starts to get to the root of the problem: the argument between whether the zombies are "undead" or "infected."

Web series Universal Dead has released episode 2, and finally starts to get to the root of the problem: the argument between whether the zombies are "undead" or "infected."

Episode 1 showed Gary Graham as a Cdc representative and a team of Navy SEALs heading to a compound in a landscape filled with the undead, though Graham claims that the "zombies" are the product of a disease and are not undead. Enter Doug Jones (Hellboy) in Episode 2 as a looney tunes scientist who believes the contrary, and wants to prove that the zombies has some theory about the undead that he wants to show Graham.  The Cdc's claim that the undead are merely infected seems a logical and realistic approach to a government's response, »

Top 10 Nicolas Cage roles

15 June 2010 9:58 PM, PDT | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Just what are the finest screen roles of Mr Nicolas Cage? Glen picks out his ten favourites...

Nic Cage is an actor who doesn't necessarily guarantee the quality of the movie in which he features. He can be a little hit and miss, to put it mildly. He rarely gives the impression that he's phoning it in, though, and I'm certain that, whatever the role is, he knows exactly what he's going for (even if sometimes it's to play Nicolas Cage on screen for two hours...). Whether this works or not is debatable, but when he's good, he can be very good indeed.

Here are what I consider to be Nic Cage's top ten roles:

10. Kick-Ass

It's rumoured that when Cage first started doing his best Adam West impression when he donned the suit as Big Daddy, nobody on set quite knew what was going on. He wasn't directed to »

Catch First Episode of Zombie Webseries Universal Dead

Get some Navy SEALs together and what do they want to do? Make a webseries about the living dead starring D.B. Sweeney, Gary Graham, and Doug Jones and put together by producer/director Vernon Mortensen and producer/writer Kelly Parks.

The first episode looks capably shot, but very much like a SyFy channel movie (seriously, who approved that new spelling, SyFy?), which is a good thing or a bad thing depending on your love of SyFy original movies. I'd say that after one episode, it's worth at least seeing what will come next.  Check out the synopsis and first episode below.

Stars Fuming Over Twitter Hack

11 May 2010 5:11 AM, PDT | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Stars including Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore and Justin Bieber were left fuming on Monday when social networking website Twitter.com fell victim to hackers.

A Turkish programmer exposed a loophole which allowed users to force others to "follow" them on the popular site, and Twitter bosses reset the entire system in a bid to rectify the problem.

The restart left many users without their usual contacts, and Kutcher was along the first to complain about the problem.

In a post on the website, he writes, "Twitter is being hacked by some Turkish hacker. Haha I have 0 followers. Whew! There's an update from Twitter, 'missing relationships are being restored'."

While his wife, Moore, added, "The Turkish hacker is really doing a number on Twitter wow!"

Teen star Bieber, another big fan of Twitter, wrote, "So I woke up here in La and Twitter has been hacked. Turns out I am no longer popular. Hackers, I send a warning... U (sic) have now p**ssed off over two million teenage girls. They are more dangerous than Navy Seals."

While hip-hop mogul Sean 'Diddy' Combs joked about the situation, adding, "I will use my magical powers to fix this! Never fear Iamdiddy is here! Here I come to save the day!"

Bosses at Twitter.com managed to fix the problem on Monday evening and the system has now been fully restored. »

Jason Statham’s actioner “Killer Elite” is piling on the cast, with the previous notable addition being Clive Owen. You can now add two more names to the increasingly impressive cast: “Chuck’s” asskicking super hottie agent Yvonne Strahovski (below) and the less attractive Robert De Niro (left) will be getting elite. The duo will join the heavily Aussie-tinted cast, which includes Statham, Owen, Ben Mendelsohn, Aden Young, Lachy Hulme, “Prison Break’s” Dominic Purcell, and Firass Diran. In the Garry McKendry-directed film, De Niro will play a character name Hunter, the mentor and best friend of Danny, Jason Statham’s character. According to Moviehole, Hunter has been kidnapped by an Arab sheik who blackmails Danny into killing Harris (played by Lachy Hulme), but of course, they’re going to get more than they expected. 'Socom: Fire Team Bravo 3' Review - Once More With Feeling

10 February 2010 10:26 AM, PST | MTV Multiplayer | See recent MTV Multiplayer news »

Slant Six Games has taken another crack at the "Socom" series with "Socom Navy Seals: Fire Team Bravo 3," a PSP exclusive. It's a force of habit not to expect much from most handheld games, especially of the 3rd shooter variety, but there's some oomph in this particular title. Let's see just how much there is.

The Basics

Semi-real life bad guys lack the flash of a Sephiroth or Ghaleon. I don't hold it against them -- traditional terrorists can't control dragons or meteors. But they can do weird stuff with WMDs, which just so happens to be the crux of this game's story.

You'll be controlling Navy Seal specialist guy Wraith and his three-man crew as they travel across a derivative and muddy terrorist-controlled land in an attempt to stop an evil Wmd-related plot. A squad-based simulation shooter at its core, you'll need to stay alert to survive in »

Jersey Shore Review: "Boardwalk Blowups"

8 January 2010 4:58 AM, PST | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

Another week, another fight on Jersey Shore. Actually, two in last night's case!

Snooki got into her second scuffle of the summer after Mike enlisted her to help get rid of some of the trash he brought home. Snookers ended up being charged by some chick.

Any girl nicknamed The Hippo is not someone you wanna be charged by, either.

Vinny, meanwhile, did not end up getting fired for snagging the boss' girl. He did treat the gang to a feast, however, courtesy of his mother and 79 of his closest relatives.

The stars of the episode, for better or worse, were Sammi and Ronnie, who fought like children, made up, fought again, and then really fought some dude on the street.

They ought to have separate jail cell waiting for these meatheads whenever they go creepin', don't you think? Click here for an in-depth recap of "Boardwalk Blowups."

Then peep »
