Brilliantly crafted children's fantasy (with a moral!)
3 March 2010 | by (Australia) – See all my reviews

Hilarious.

This starts out as an expertly crafted children's fantasy/fairy-tale style show. With a meaningful good vs. evil plot (McEvil vs the King and Queen of The Enchanted Realm). McEvil is actually the royal adviser and begins a double-cross within the kingdom (scapegoating the goblin affectionately titled 'gobbo').

Prince Wilton travels to Earth via 'vortex', to dispose of seven wishes which, if not granted by sundown, will result upon the faeries losing their magic forever. Thereupon he meets Walter Pratt who is attending his first day at a new school.

Cameron Nugent delivers the superior funny and cheesed-up Walter, with extraordinary pizazz. As an 'ordinary' teen, Walter embarks on a very strange day indeed, filled with several very different scenarios each blessed with poignant and delirious comedy.

Each wish granted to him by his 'mate' Prince Wilton, accumulates over the course of the movie, to provide us with a moral "Be content just to be who you are".

Albeit if the scenarios seem far-fetched, its main design / demographic is the teenage contingency (ie 'troublesome years') and with all the T.V young people watch (and for a children's 'short' produced in 1990) for these reasons it is my opinion that the production value soars!

I can't say all of my favourite bits because it would take too long.

Esben Storm (director), Steve J. Spears (Writer) Antonio Barnard and others, Bravo!
