So here you get your standard "Karate Kid" plot with some typical college movie scenes (car race, rock contest, bullyin' and beatin'). David Warbeck is wasted in a minor role as the hero's father, while the hero himself (Antonio Sabato junior) has not much going for him - except his pretty face. On the plus side, you have the effective (though cheap) synthesizer soundtrack and the decent cinematography you get in most of this director's karate movies, and the "actors", though for the most part not particularly talented, are sympathetic enough to keep you watching and give the movie a homely touch. If you like this type of film (high school atmosphere, karate vengeance), you might want to check out one of the "Karate Warrior" flicks from this director, if not "The Iron Girl", which is definitely worth a look due to its engaging female main character and its unusually large share of uncompromising in-your-face brutality.
