Ivan Reitman says the hate for Ghostbusters reboot isn’t sexist

1 July 2016 4:00 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

We’re just a couple of weeks away from strange things happening in your neighbourhood with Paul Feig’s reboot of Ghostbusters hitting cinema screens, and it’s not been without its controversy.

There have been several rumours of problems between Sony and the director (with suggestions the studio want to sweep the movie under the rug), and even reports that the cast hated the film while working on it. However the biggest stories have been the en-mass outcry that the ‘hate’ for the movie is nothing more than sexism and misogyny. Feig’s friend Judd Apatow recently compared the Ghostbusters hate to the support for Donald Trump as American president.

But the movie’s producer – and the original movie’s director – Ivan Reitman thinks otherwise.

“I think there’s way too much talk about gender” he tells Mashable. “I think that many of the people who were complaining were actually lovers of the [original] movie, »

Donald unwittingly stumbles upon a solution to his two major problems in his life – his nagging wife and his lack of decent meals – when, one night, he bludgeons his better half to death with a pepper grinder in a drunken rage. Listen to the official Japanese non-Fall Out Boy theme song for Ghostbusters reboot

29 June 2016 3:13 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Sony released the official theme song for Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters reboot by Fall Out Boy and Missy Elliot last week, and it didn’t go down all that well. The song – like the trailers – was met with a lot of negativity, even by those who have supported the film online.

Well the official Japanese theme song has landed online, and it’s a lot closer to the Ray Parker Jr. original. So close in fact that, well, it’s the same song but in Japanese. It’s performed by Japanese comedians Tomochika, Oniyakko Tsubaki, Naomi Watanabe and Shizuyo Yamasaki decked out in Ghostbusters gear doing wacky things.

Pretty Little Liars Season 7A Review

22 June 2016 7:52 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

If Season 6B of Pretty Little Liars kicked off with an unspoken ode to The Godfather: Part III, season 7, which premiered on Freeform last night, is all How To Get Away With Murder. After flashing forward a few days into the future, we’re greeted by shrieks of panic from Spencer (Troian Bellisario), Emily (Shay Mitchell) and Aria (Lucy Hale), as they frantically plow their shovels into the ground of a dimly lit woods. Sound familiar?

The girls are digging a grave, but it’s unclear for whom. We’re supposed to assume it’s for Hanna (Ashley Benson), but anyone who’s spent some time with Pretty Little Liars, or has an inkling about how television works, knows it’s unlikely that the beloved character would face such a callous demise. And that’s exactly the show’s problem. In its seventh — and presumably final — season, Pretty Little Liars »

Paul Feig’s all-female reboot of the beloved 80s paranormal comedy Ghostbusters has been met with an overwhelmingly negative reaction. It’s trailer is the most disliked movie teaser ever on YouTube. That’s almost impressive.

There have many many rumours and reports about the backstage happenings on the Ghostbusters shoot – from stars locking themselves in their trailers to ego clashes on set – and even allegations that Sony (the studio behind the movie) have been pushing the misogynist agenda against the film to drive the marketing’s narrative.

After star and writer of the original movie Dan Aykroyd (who also serves as the reboot’s executive producer) wrote a cringe-worthy Facebook post declaring the 2016 film’s brilliance, Oli and Luke delve into the whole troubled production story of Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters

Judd Apatow compares Ghostbusters haters to Trump supporters

3 June 2016 3:56 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Even with big releases like Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Captain America: Civil War in 2016, perhaps the most talked about movie of the year is Paul Feig’s reboot of Ghostbusters. It has caused ire among some corners of the Internet realm and has developed a large portion of supporters who will shoot down anyone who talks negativly about it – just ask James Rolfe of Cinemassacre.

One man who is the ‘defend’ camp is Judd Apatow, who he collaborated with the on the short-lived TV series Freaks & Geeks.

“I would assume there’s a very large crossover of people who are doubtful Ghostbusters will be great and people excited about the Donald Trump candidacy,” he told Uproxx. “I would assume they are the exact same people.”

He adds: “That movie is made by the great Paul Feig and stars the funniest people on earth, so I couldn’t be more excited. »
