(1990) Love conquers death in the romantic fantasy starring Patrick Swayze as a murdered man who returns to protect the woman he loves (Demi Moore) with the help of a fake spiritualist (Whoopi Golberg) who discovers she has the power to channel spirits… much to her dismay. Tony Goldwyn co-stars as Swayze's former business partner who develops an interest in the grieving widow. The first solo film from comedy director Jim Abrahams (of Airplane fame), the mix of the supernatural and the sentimental was a huge hit and won two Academy Awards, for Best Supporting Actress Whoopi Golberg and for Bruce Joel Rubin's Original Screenplay.
