Trivia

Matthew Broderick had no idea that Marlon Brando was going to use the walnuts as a prop in the scene where they discuss his job. While waiting for the scene to be shot, Brando cracked the walnuts just enough so they would be easy to break, and then used them in the scene to help generate a more genuine response from Broderick. Goofs

The opening scene shows Clark and his stepfather in the Vermont woods encountering a deer hunter who carries a rifle. The vegetation and foliage are thick and green, indicating that it is spring or summer. However, Vermont's rifle season for deer does not begin until mid-November, at which time the trees would be mostly bare. See more »

Highly enjoyable
14 March 2000 | by See all my reviews

This is a very funny movie that casts Matthew Broderick as a new-to-the-city college kid who gets mixed up with a shady character named Vic right after he arrives. Through a series of events, he becomes involved with Vic's family, which include Uncle Carmine and his daughter Tina.

Everyone is perfectly suited to his role and even Brando appears to be having a lot of fun with his own image. The supporting cast is worth mentioning - especially Paul Benedict as an obnoxious college professor, and Maximillian Shell as a business associate of Carmine Sabatini.

This is ultimately a touching movie about loyalty and family, and it sure is fun.

You even get to see the Mona Lisa if you watch this movie!
