‘Orange Is the New Black’ Season 4: Lori Petty Talks Lolly’s Fate

[Spoiler alert: The following interview discusses plot points from the entire fourth season of “Orange Is the New Black.” Do not read until you’ve watched.]

Lori Petty’s Lolly Whitehill is such a central part of “Orange Is the New Black” season 4, that it’s easy to forget she hasn’t been there all along.

After a brief guest turn in the second season premiere (when Piper was on the plane to Chicago), Lolly returned last season to spook Alex (Laura Prepon), who thought she was sent to kill her. As it turned out Lolly was simply following the voices in her head — a paranoid schizophrenic, Lolly is convinced all government agencies are united in a conspiracy to kill her.

This season, Lolly saves Alex’s life by knocking out the prison guard who turned out to be an undercover assassin, helps Alex bury the body, and later bonds with Healy (Michael J. ‘Ghostbusters’ Reboot Co-Writer Slams Internet Backlash & ‘Nasty Comments’

If you thought that the “Ghostbusters” controversy was going to die down ahead of its release next month, I’m afraid I’ve got some bad news. Katie Dippold, who co-wrote the female-led reboot along with director Paul Feig, has pointed out the absurdity of pre-release criticism in a Telegraph interview: “There were nasty comments and before there was even a movie.”

Paul Feig’s upcoming “Ghostbusters” reboot has been at the center of much unwarranted controversy due to its female cast, but a much more radical change from the original comedy hit has taken place that actually deserves major backlash. Behold the new “Ghostbusters” theme, which was released earlier this morning.

Recorded by Fall Out Boy and Missy Elliott, the new version is a major departure from the iconic theme, which was originally recorded by Ray Parker Jr. and spent three weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song earned an Oscar nomination as well.

If you just can’t with this female-led “Ghostbusters” reboot, then perhaps today’s news that Sony Pictures Animation is creating a new animated installment in the franchise will be more to your liking. The studio has made its plans for 2017-18, with the animated series “Ghostbusters: Ecto Force” among its forthcoming offerings.
