Haven't watched hardly any CAT III material lately except the exceptional INTRUDER-so I pulled this one from my backlog to see if I've been missing anything. In all honesty, I'm quite sure I've seen pretty much all of the standouts of the sub-genre, but every now and then I come across a surprise. Did BEHIND THE PINK DOOR fit that bill?
A woman is raped on the way home from a party, and her dick-bag boyfriend who is a cop is worried about how he'll be viewed amongst his peers now that his girl is tainted- goods, so he convinces her not to report the incident. After being checked out by her doctor-the chick finds out she has VD-and instead of going to the clinic for some meds- she kills herself instead. Her douche of a boyfriend is upset about her death so he goes after the guys that raped her...
Nothing notable about BEHIND THE PINK DOOR other than a few sleazy rapes and a solid amount of full-frontal from most of the hot Asian broads on display. Lots and lots of silly talk about VD in this one from pretty much everyone in the cast for whatever reason. I heard it talked about so much-I think I got herpes just watching this mess. Mindless CAT III crime-themed sleaze with not much payoff. Amusing at times but otherwise extremely average and dismissible by genre standards and the modest 90-minute runtime feels like six hours. Not the worst of the bunch by any means-but far from the best. Recommended to completists only. 4/10
