Storyline

Ford "Mr. Rock n' Roll Detective" Fairlane is experiencing problems, and it's not with the opposite sex. One of them is that all the rock stars pay him with drum sticks, koala bears, food processors and bicycle shorts. Another one of them is that all his employers that want him to find a girl named Zuzu Petals get killed. Why didn't he become a fisherman's detective instead? A must-see for Andrew Dice Clay fans. Trivia

At least three of the band names listed above feature references to earlier movies produced by Joel Silver: "Ellen Aim and the Attackers" is the band fronted by Diane Lane in Streets of Fire (1984), "Nakatomi Boys Choir" is a reference to Die Hard (1988), as the main location of that story was Nakatomi Plaza, and "Alba Varden" is the name of the South Africans' vessel in Lethal Weapon 2 (1989). Goofs

Johnny tells Ford to meet him at the radio station at 6:00 p.m. When Ford parks outside the station, the sky is dark. As we learn later in the film, the story is taking place in late July. Sunset in Los Angeles in late July is about 8:00 p.m., so it shouldn't have been dark yet. See more »

A Cast of Characters right out of a Vegas Act

First of all, what a great movie. None stop laughs from one of the very few comedians who can sell out Madison Square Garden. Not only was Dice's performance "Unbelievable" the supporting cast held a lot of big named actors. Wayne Newton, Priscilla Presley, Lauren Holly, and the guy who played Freddy Kruger....yeah, what's his name? Anyway, this got a terrible review from the powers to be because it was considered Dice comedy. Still, you can't watch Ford Fairlane without laughing a few times.
