Storyline

Ford "Mr. Rock n' Roll Detective" Fairlane is experiencing problems, and it's not with the opposite sex. One of them is that all the rock stars pay him with drum sticks, koala bears, food processors and bicycle shorts. Another one of them is that all his employers that want him to find a girl named Zuzu Petals get killed. Why didn't he become a fisherman's detective instead? A must-see for Andrew Dice Clay fans. Trivia

In an interview in Movieline magazine, screenwriter Daniel Waters said that working with Andrew Dice Clay was "traumatic". Waters was happy, however, that Clay later said that "Bobby Rivers" wrote the movie, and hoped Clay would forever tout this non-existent scribe as the film's writer. See more »

Goofs

At the beginning of the film, when Ford is telling the backstory of rock star Bobby Black when he dies on stage, the song Bobby sings includes the line "No she don't give a... No she don't give a SHIT!" Later, when Ford is watching MTV and sees Zuzu Petals in Bobby's music video, we hear the same lyric, including the word "SHIT". It is a violation of FCC rules to air an obscenity on a broadcast without censoring the word. MTV would be fined and/or reprimanded for airing an uncut version of the lyric. (Ironically, Andrew Dice Clay was banned from MTV for life after using obscene language on the MTV Music Video Awards, thus getting MTV in trouble with the FCC.) See more »

A Cast of Characters right out of a Vegas Act
11 January 2002 | by See all my reviews

First of all, what a great movie. None stop laughs from one of the very few comedians who can sell out Madison Square Garden. Not only was Dice's performance "Unbelievable" the supporting cast held a lot of big named actors. Wayne Newton, Priscilla Presley, Lauren Holly, and the guy who played Freddy Kruger....yeah, what's his name? Anyway, this got a terrible review from the powers to be because it was considered Dice comedy. Still, you can't watch Ford Fairlane without laughing a few times.
