Thakur wants to construct a liquor factory in the village and wants villagers to hand over their land to him. When they resist, he kills a villager a gets his thumb print and coerces the rest to sign their land over. One villager is out of town and is unable to sign. Turns out Bheema has just returned from jail and has a history with Thakur. Police Inspector has to arrest Bheema on a complaint from Thakur, where Bheema narrates his tale.
7 yrs ago, Thakur wanted to illegally and forcefully occupy all village land and to force the villagers had ordered Lakhan to burn all crops. Laxmi witnesses first hand the atrocities of Thankur and Lakhan, but one day Thakur's son Ajit approaches Laxmi and apologizes for his father's injustice. He appears as if he is going to stand up to Thakur and free the village from his shenanigans. Ajit seduces Laxmi with sweet nothings and then proposes marriage to her. Ajit even visits Bheema and admits that Thakur will never agree to the proposal between Ajit and Laxmi. So, he proposes that he will get married to Laxmi & then Thakur will have no option but to adopt Laxmi as his daughter in law. Ajit gets Laxmi (Raadhika Sarathkumar) pregnant and casts her aside. Her brother Bheema (Amitabh Bachchan) goes to plead with them to accept Laxmi as their daughter-in-law and they reject his pleas and have him thrown out. Bheema tries to avenge this humiliation, only to be rebuffed. Laxmi goes to Thakur's mansion, once she is preggers, only to hear Thakur & Ajit discuss how they will eliminate the child who could pose issues later. Bheema is imprisoned, and after his sentence is over he returns to his community. He promptly takes up arms against Thakur and gives an open challenge to his authority. Thakur responds by increasing his atrocities over the villagers & asking them to evict Bheema from the village in return for clemency.
Bheema is told that he can no longer reside in the village, as the entire community is terrified of the Thakur and his men. Bheema then decides to move out of town. Some villagers and a police officer (Anupam Kher) persuade Bheema to return, and he agrees. Bheema takes advantage of a party at Thakur's house to steal all the property papers that Thakur has accumulated forcefully over the years & sets fire to them.
In retaliation, Bheema's nephew Kanhaiya (Baby Guddu) is abducted by Thakur and his men, and he will only be returned after Bheema obtains signatures/thumb prints from everyone in the community, thereby turning over their properties to Thakur's name.
