Henry Darrow was the first actor to be involved with three different productions of "Zorro", and he is also the first Latino to play the role of Zorro on television. He was the voice of Zorro (Don Diego) in the animated series The New Adventures of Zorro (1981) (which was broadcast as part of The Tarzan/Lone Ranger/Zorro Adventure Hour (1980)). He then starred as the elderly Zorro (Don Diego) in the series Zorro and Son (1983). Then he was Don Alejandro, Don Diego's father, in this series for three of its four seasons.
Cathi Campo, the series' opening theme singer, is the cousin-in-law of Terry Botwick, who was, at the time, the Vice President of original programming for The Family Channel Network, which aired this series.
Circa 1989, the series was titled "Zorro, The Legend Continues" (or "El Zorro" in Spanish) and featured twenty-four episodes with Patrick James as Zorro for Caracol Television. Then from 1990 to 1992, the series was revamped as "Zorro" with Duncan Regehr for The Family Channel. Some international channels aired the Patrick James version in 1991.
