Hmmm…. I wonder how soon Gethin’s memory is going to come back? It’s obvious he was affected by seeing his father touch Wil, just like Moc had touched Gethin before molesting him as a child. You’d think it would be soon, but the show is teasing that Wil is leaving town for awhile and they’ve been playing this storyline for over a year, so who knows? I think what was most interesting about that scene, was not just Gethin’s reaction, but Moc’s as well. It was as if Moc hadn’t »

I’m really curious where this is going. Iolo seems determined to find a way to deal with his guilt and clear his conscience for what happened with Gethin and the show has made a point of saying Iolo just can’t walk away and pretend it never happened. Sion is handling his own guilt by burying himself in his religion, so what is Iolo going to do? I still think he’s going to try and help Gethin regain the ability to walk and who knows where that will lead. But wherever it goes, it’s obvious it’s going to take a long time to get there. I’ve seen several folks complaining that the story is dragging, which makes me wonder if they’ve ever watched this show before. I personally don’t mind a slow pace (soaps »

I realize given the events of this episode that it’s in poor taste to say this, but as I predicted last week, Will looks awfully delish in his policeman’s uniform. But in spite of his total hotness, unlike some other fans of another fanbase I could mention (and will later in this column), I neither excuse or ignore Will’s deplorable actions in this episode.

I’ve often said how well-written and acted this show is and this week was no exception. The opening sequence, which detailed Will beating Robbie again and the ensuing aftermath, was powerful even though it was done in hushed and quiet tones and soft music. As always, the show makes sure we know that while Will might be a likable or even sympathetic guy, this is no magical love story that excuses or downplays the abuse. »

Please Like Me (Australia)

There were several moments I really enjoyed here. I loved where Josh talked to his father about him paying for Josh to visit him in Thailand — the only problem being Josh would have to see his father there. Josh’s quiet comment of ‘That’s a shame’ was hilarious as was the bit with the dog in a dress. I also liked Tom talking about having a child, only to find out that you didn’t like it very much and would have to pretend to love it. It had an odd ring of truth. But, my favorite was the gag about the erotic gif that Tom made. This show is full of lines that are rich with wit and warmth. And Claire and Tom’s kiss in the rain was really sweet. But I still think that Tom’s ex isn’t pregnant. »

Shortland Street (New Zealand)

This is proof that I can’t be everywhere. I had no idea that New Zealand nighttime soap Shortland Street had a gay couple on the show. I’m not sure on all the details of the storyline, but it seems that Seth came on as part of a hostile hopital takeover. There’s been lots of drama and political maneuvering because of it. Seth's business competitor Sarah knows that he’s gay, and it looks like she's about to out him.

The biggest question I have is: what year is this? I mean, it’s 2013. It’s seems so dated to have Seth staying in the closet and hiding his boyfriend to protect his career. I realize that this does still happen, but Seth is not a professional athlete, a big film star, a politician or anything high-profile like that, so »
