Miscellaneous: There are numerous factual, audio and continuity errors with the other video games.
Continuity: In the first encounter between Putnam and Sam, Sam pulls out a shovel and repeatedly hits Putnam's car as he tries to leave. If you watch closely, Sam destroys the front left headlight twice. After smashing it the first time, a few seconds later it shows him hit it again as if it had not been hit yet.
Continuity: About 33 minutes into the movie, we see Corey, Jimmy, and Haley catching a ride in the back of a blue pick-up truck with some Navajo Indians, one of whom introduces himself in Navajo language. However, if you look closely at an earlier scene at the 27:30 mark, we see them getting out of the same truck with the same Indians. There is a continuity error here because the kids had parted ways with the truck after the first scene and got a ride with a biker gang. The two aforementioned scenes were obviously shot together and the editors overlooked or ignored this continuity problem.
Continuity: During the "Send Me An Angel" segue there is a scene showing Sam and Nick in the truck traveling. If you look closely that is the same exact scene from earlier in the movie before they got the truck damaged.
Continuity: While Jimmy is playing Ninja Gaiden, Hailey says "It's his second time through and he hasn't even taken a hit yet". But the game clearly shows that he has two bars missing on his health meter.
Continuity: When the kids first arrive in Reno in the limo, there's a clock showing the time as 12:01. In the very next shot, the same clock says 11:37.
Continuity: In the Video Armageddon scene, it is said that there are two minutes left, even though the timer visibly shows one minute.
Continuity: The glass of chocolate milk in the beginning at breakfast.
Continuity: When Sam is driving down the highway right before he gets his tires slashed, the tree in the back of his truck has few or no leaves. When he runs out of the restaurant later to see his tires slashed, the tree is full of bright green leaves.
Continuity: The smashed side mirror on Putnam's car.
Continuity: When Jimmy says, "Corey, I don't want to go home," Haley's purse disappears and reappears between shots.
Continuity: When Putnam grabs Cory at the Hotel he spills Cory's milkshake all over his clothes. In the next shot, his clothes are clean.
Continuity: After playing Double Dragon at the bus stop, Corey remarks that Jimmy scored 50,000 points. Jimmy achieved this in less than two minutes of play when in reality it would take playing through nearly the entire game to do so, which would take much more time.
Factual errors: Haley announces that Jimmy has reached "470,000 and climbing on F1 Dream" while playing against the three rednecks in the arcade. The marquee on the game is wrong and the game is really called Top Speed.
Miscellaneous: While playing Adventures of Link while at the mechanic, Nick gets his father, Sam, to stop playing the game by unplugging his controller. This turns the machine off, which doesn't happen in reality. The machine will normally remain on even without a controller plugged in.
Audio/visual unsynchronized: After the first round of the Video Armageddon is over, we can see the monitors as Jimmy is walking away. The game continues to play on all the monitors, despite there being no-one playing, showing that the video is all pre-recorded.
Anachronisms: Everyone in the audience Jimmy knows gives him advice on Super Mario Bros. 3. Since the game had not been released to the general public at this time, this is impossible.
Factual errors: The announcer states in the final round that Lucas and Mora have completed "World 2" of Super Mario Brothers 3. The level is not in fact "World 2", but "World 1 - Stage 3".
Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Spanky is driving the truck he is turning the wheel left and right. If he was doing that on the road the 18 wheeler would have flipped killing everyone inside.
Audio/visual unsynchronized: When the Video Armageddon announcer begins to name the contestants, the female announcer voice says there are two minutes until the contest starts, but the giant clock on stage is seen counting down from one.
Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Haley said that Jimmy had trouble with the games "Rampage" and "Dr. Chaos", but those two weren't part of the Playchoice 10 series. Rampage was a self-cabinet arcade game, while Dr. Chaos was NES-only.
Errors in geography: Sam and Putnam are supposed to be driving in from the east, coming from Utah but both cars are shown driving on the freeway driving from the west, going east.
Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): The MC during the Video Armageddon contest refers to "Super Mario Bros. 3" as a game no one has ever played before. However, the game had been readily available in Japan a year before the movie released.
Revealing mistakes: When Lucas is using the power glove to steer at the beginning of the "Rad Racer" game, he turns the glove to the right, but the car veers left, indicating he isn't really playing the game.
Revealing mistakes: As Lucas plays "Rad Racer", he is moving his hand like he is behind the wheel of a car, making small precision adjustments in his steering from left to right. However, the Nintendo Entertainment System used strictly a digital input system, meaning that it wouldn't be able to pick up precision ranges of motion like an analogue controller could and would give the full range of motion no matter how subtle you push or turn. He would be all over or off the road with how he was twisting the glove and not making the skillful turns and passes shown on-screen.
Continuity: During the scene inside the dinosaur at the end of the movie, Corey takes a picture from Jimmy. The camera cuts to their family and then back to them. Corey takes the photo from Jimmy a second time.
Continuity: Before Corey throws darts at the map, there is already a dart in South Dakota. The first dart he throws looks to be thrown at something off-camera but yet he says "South Dakota" as if he just threw the dart on the map and hit South Dakota.
Continuity: When Corey is throwing darts at the map, in one scene there are two yellow darts on Wyoming and Arizona, but in the next scene they are gone, and there is a blue dart on Utah.
Continuity: During Haley's first call to the Nintendo game counselor, the game on his monitor changes from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to a cut-scene from Ninja Gaiden.
