Meg Ryan: Being America's Sweetheart Irritates Me

8 March 2002 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Meg Ryan is desperate to branch out and away from the romantic comedies that have made her name. The 40-year-old beauty even says the thought of being typecast for much longer irritates her. Meg, who has starred in the likes of When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless In Seattle and You've Got Mail, says, "I've probably gone as far as I can with that particular genre. I've only actually done seven pictures of that type, but I was locked into it. It starts to get irritating, you know. It's not been easy wearing the mantle of America's sweetheart for so long." »
