'Beastly'; helping with the teenagification of Everything since 2011

6 December 2010 8:05 PM, PST | Planet Fury | See recent Planet Fury news »

I remember when I thought shit like the new fantasy film trailer for Beastly was cool: 1987.

Look, I love Teen Witch as much as the next girl. I also love fairy tales. But the recent influx of teenage-themed genre movies is getting me all gagging. First we have to content with Twilight, then the announcements for The Hunger Games and The Maze Runner. Now Beastly, too. This is just... unbearable. Seriously.

We have Mary-Kate Olsen doing the Worst acting I've ever seen in a trailer (remember, we put her Best scenes in the trailer. ugh), plus a story about how looks aren't important, and if you're an ugly guy you can make a woman fall in love with you.. but she better be hot. Just like the original Beauty and the Beast fairy tale, a woman must Always be beautiful if she is to be worthy of a man's love; a man can be nice, »

Blake Gets Love From Her Sister but Just a Peck From Penn

21 October 2010 10:30 AM, PDT | Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news »

Blake Lively turned a promotional appearance into a family affair last night when she stepped out with her older sister Robin, of Teen Witch fame, for the launch of the Vertu phone in NYC. The Livelys stuck together for photos before Blake broke off to gush about Ben Affleck and their experiences shooting The Town. Blake was free to party after spending her afternoon on the set of Gossip Girl, where she was greeted with a peck on the cheek from Penn Badgley. Their embrace wasn't as passionate as some of their recent kisses, and many are still wondering about the rumors Blake and Penn have split. Blake's back to work after a weekend in La showing off her glamorous hair and a sexy gown at the Scream Awards. View 15 Photos › To see more photos of Blake, just read more. View 15 Photos › »

You’ll Never Guess What 80’s Chick Flick This Comedian Can’t Get Enough Of!

Keith Powell, who stars as Toofer in the critically acclaimed 30 Rock, is much more than the funny guy he plays on TV and movies such as Night and the Museum 2. This Philadelphia native and New York University graduate is the Producing Artistic Director of Contemporary Stage Company, a summer theatre in Wilmington, Delaware that has drawn stars including Duncan Sheik, Lynn Redgrave, and Sean Patrick Thomas. This SAG Award winning actor opened up and told us some things you probably didn’t know.

Six things you never knew about Keith Powell! I know all the words to “Can I Get A…” by Jay-z. Cause it ain’t even a question how my dough flows, I’m good to these bad ho’s. I should be three inches taller, but I have a crooked spine. Consequently, »

trailer break: ‘Tron Legacy’

14 April 2010 9:59 AM, PDT | www.flickfilosopher.com | See recent FlickFilosopher news »

Looks like it’s gonna be 3D trailers all week long... I love this idea: Throw Legacy onto the end of any old movie when you remake/reboot it for that touch of class and elegance. Electric Boogaloo Legacy. Red Dawn Legacy. Teen Witch Legacy. Try it: it works with anything! Starring Academy Award winner Jeff Bridges! That works too, if you can say it honestly. Tron Legacy opens in the U.S. and Canada on December 17, and in the U.K. on December 26. »

Character actress Zelda Rubinstein was best known for her role in the 1982 horror film Poltergeist. She starred as psychic Tangina Barrons, who’s small stature and childlike voice added more chills to the 1982 horror film about demonic forces at a suburban home. She reprised her role in the two sequels Poltergeist II: The Other Side (1986) and Poltergeist III (1988).

Rubinstein was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on May 28, 1933. She worked as a medical technician, before embarking upon an acting career in the early 1980s. the 4′3″ actress was cast in the 1981 film Under the Rainbow, and she became an outspoken critic of the way little people portraying Munchkins in the film were depicted. She soon formed the Michael Dunn Memorial Repertory Theater Company in Los Angeles to give acting opportunities to other little people.

Though of small size, she also made a large impression in the films Anguish (1987), Teen Witch (1989), Guilty as Charged »

Zelda Rubinstein 1933-2010

27 January 2010 3:23 PM, PST | FilmJunk | See recent FilmJunk news »

Some sad news today folks... Zelda Rubinstein, best known as the psychic Tangina Barrons from Poltergeist, has died at the age of 76. She had been hospitalized back in December after suffering a mild heart attack, and last month it had been reported that she was going to be taken off of life support. Apparently that was not quite true, because according to her agent, she passed away today due to natural causes at Barlow Respiratory Hospital in Los Angeles. As a character actor, she appeared in a number of other roles over the years, including Teen Witch, National Lampoon's Last Resort, and Sixteen Candles. Her most recent on-screen performances were in Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon and Southland Tales in 2006. For a lot of us, though, I think it's safe to say that her role in Poltergeist was unforgettable, and it even earned her a Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress. »
