Eddie Levert: 'Every Girl Is Not A Freak'

7 May 2012 3:27 PM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

After more than four decades of gold and platinum success with his legendary group, The O’Jays, frontman Eddie Levert has finally released his debut solo album, titled Eddie Levert: I Still Have It. Featuring lead single, "Last Man Standing," Levert's 12-track opus sheds light on the 69-year-old's personal hurdles, as well as his love and devotion for his wife, Raquel Capelton.

During a recent interview with The Huffington Post, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer discussed recording after the loss of his two sons, Gerald and Sean, his interest in collaborating with Kanye West and his thoughts on today's R&B lyrics.

The album's lead single, "Last Man Standing," is an ode to your sons. What was the recording process for the song?

I've been working on this album for five years, and I started before Gerald and Sean passed away. And the first thought when you »

Paging, Sarah Jessica Parker! Some Girls would like to see you… Lena Dunham, creator of HBO's new angsty hit, says she would totally love to see the gals from Sex and the City pop up on her show. "We acknowledge that this show couldn't exist without Sex and the City," Dunham told me when Girls first premiered last month at South by Southwest. "These are girls who were raised on Sex and the City. It's a part of why they're all moving to New York." But Sjp & Co. wouldn't have to work too hard. "Maybe we can have something like Miranda [Cynthia Nixon] drinking a smoothie and walking by the gym," Dunham said. "But maybe it's something you »

The Saturday interview: Professor Mary Beard

21 April 2012 5:44 AM, PDT | The Guardian - TV News | See recent The Guardian - TV News news »

With her new TV series about the lives of ordinary Romans, Professor Mary Beard wants to tackle history differently. The nation's new favourite classicist talks to Stuart Jeffries

"I'm trending on Twitter," says the professor of classics at Cambridge as we walk to the departure lounge at Heathrow's terminal five. But it's not all good news. One reason Mary Beard's trending is that some viewers have been unpleasant about what she looks like on Meet the Romans, her three-part BBC2 TV series that started on Tuesday.

"I've been getting tweets like 'Can't she brush her hair?', 'Shouldn't she be sexing herself up a bit?', 'Did she try to look so haggard?' Lucky I've got a thick skin. Sometimes you think they're writing this after half a bottle of wine, and I feel like writing back after more than half a bottle: 'Actually, that's what a 57-year-old woman looks like. »

Some girls have all the luck. And chief among them is birthday girl Miranda Kerr! Today, this model mama, wife and, well, model, turns the ripe not-so-old age of 29. What does she have to show for her nearly three decades? Plenty, as it turns out! In addition to being one of Hollywood's most doting mothers—to cutie-pie tot Flynn—and loving wife of movie star Orlando Bloom, Miranda is the Victoria's Secret angel who's flown higher than ever this year, from being named one of Australia's most beautiful people (we can't imagine that deliberation took very long) to returning to the runway after giving birth to her little boy and even proving to be one of the world's paparazzi's »

By Zachary Swickey

Ronnie Wood, guitarist for the legendary Rolling Stones, has revealed that the group will convene at a studio later this month to “throw some ideas around” for the band’s 25th album, their follow-up to 2005’s A Bigger Bang.

Apparently the Stones won’t be in full-blown writing mode, rather they just want “to get the feel again,” Wood told The Mirror. Wood also alluded to “training” for the band’s much rumored 50th anniversary tour.

"It's like working out for the Olympics or something," Wood said. "You've got to go into training. So we're going to go into training."

The group had previously conducted a jam session in London back in December, which went splendidly, according to Keith Richards. “It went very well. We played a lot of blues and outtakes of Some Girls and things like that,” he told Rolling Stone.

Madonna, Facebook

Because it's pretty great.

An early rumored setlist for Madonna's upcoming Mdna tour, which kicks off May 29 at Tel Aviv, Israel's Ramat Gan Stadium, has been kicking around the Interweb. It hasn't been confirmed, but the source is pretty darn dependable when it comes to Madonna matters, so we thought we'd bring it to you so we could talk it out.

Lending a bit more credibility to the rumored setlist, during her Facebook chat with Jimmy Fallon to promote Mdna, Madonna said that the theme of the show's first act would be "transgression." "I like to have a theme for my show and create a dramatic arc," she told Fallon. "Then I try to make the songs fit within that arc."

If we're talking transgressions, opening with a video intro of "Erotica"/"Justicy My Love" and segueing into "Girl Gone Wild," as you'll see below, seems right »

Some girls get the world. Others, like Kristen Stewart’s Bella Swan for instance, marry the vampire of their dreams and then tumble down the rabbit hole that is immortality. When your hubs Robert Pattinson has to bite your monster baby out of your tummy, and it’s life and death consequences, you really have few alternatives but to be turned, but for Kristen Stewart in the much loved Stephenie Meyer penned role, let’s face it, the end of the Twilight Saga brings with it all her dreams come true. In fact, a few, like motherhood, she didn’t even know she had. Not that there isn’t a dangerous threat in store for the Cullens and wolves alike in Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn part two, but one thing happens that we have all been waiting for. From a screaming Tyra Banks to fainting contestants, America's Next Top Model has never been short on drama. But the venom has flowed like never before in the current British Invasion cycle, as 7 foreigners face off with 7 Americans in hopes of winning Tyra's "fabulous prizes."

To find out what really went down as Louise quit the competition, I caught up with Kelly for a frank chat about their confrontation, their post-filming run-in and what you can expect from the rest of cycle 18!

Insider.com: From your perspective, was Louise's exit [watch it here] a surprise?

Kelly Cutrone: What you didn't see was that she'd been really rude to Tyra the week before when she said Louise looked like Linda Evangelista – what they left out was my response because Louisa started to bite »

Casting: Leslie Mann in The Bling Ring; Kristen Bell and More in Writers; Project X Star Thomas Mann in Beautiful Creatures

7 March 2012 5:40 AM, PST | FusedFilm | See recent FusedFilm news »

The cast for Sofia Coppola’s The Bling Ring continues to grow quickly. Just last week we reported that Emma Watson had signed on to join the project based on a true story about a group of teen who robbed some of Hollywood’s elite stars between October 2008 and August 2009. Now THR is reporting that Leslie Mann and Isreal Broussard will be starring alongside Watson and Vera Farimga. Katie Chang, Claire Pfister and Georgia Rock also have been added to the cast.

According to the report, Mann will play a mom of one of the two thieves, while Broussard will play has the male lead. While Watson, Mann, and Farimga are probably the most notable names on the cast, Coppola is casting young unknown talent to play as the ring of thieves. It should be interesting to see how Coppola interprets the dark side of obsession and fame.
