When Wes Craven signed a deal with New Line Cinemas to get A Nightmare on Elm Street made, he also signed over the movie name and any character likeness with the feeling that a sequel would probably never get put together. But the success of the movie was still ringing in the ears of Robert Shaye who pushed a sequel forward without the series creator, based on a script written by David Chaskin titled A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge.

In my opinion, A Nightmare On Elm Street 4: The Dream Master was always one of the better sequels in the Elm Street saga. It was when the series hit its creative peak, due to the genius directing of Renny Harlin (Prison, Deep Blue Sea, Die Hard 2), the always entertaining performance of Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger, and the addition of a fresh set of Elm Street kids. One of those kids, Kristen, was played by Tuesday Knight, who took over the role originated in A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors by Patricia Arquette. Call me crazy, but I’ve always thought that Knight did a superior job as Kristen, and though her time in the film wasn’t as long as some of the others, she added more to the character that I found to be one-dimensional in The Dream Warriors.
