Countdown to Halloween - A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge (1985)

To countdown to this year's Halloween, Luke Owen reviews a different horror film every day of October. Up next; A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge...

When Wes Craven signed a deal with New Line Cinemas to get A Nightmare on Elm Street made, he also signed over the movie name and any character likeness with the feeling that a sequel would probably never get put together. But the success of the movie was still ringing in the ears of Robert Shaye who pushed a sequel forward without the series creator, based on a script written by David Chaskin titled A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge.

Often referred to as the Top Gun of the series, A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge is a movie that doesn't really feel like a genuine sequel to Craven's masterpiece as the pair have very little in common. The themes are different, »

Review Simon Brew 6 Apr 2013 - 18:58

Spoilers: here are our thoughts of Doctor Who series 7: The Rings Of Akhaten, starring Matt Smith and Jenna-Louise Coleman...

This review contains spoilers. Our spoiler-free review is here.

The Rings Of Akhaten

It's not hanging around, this latest batch of Doctor Who episodes. It was when the series hit its creative peak, due to the genius directing of Renny Harlin (Prison, Deep Blue Sea, Die Hard 2), the always entertaining performance of Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger, and the addition of a fresh set of Elm Street kids. One of those kids, Kristen, was played by Tuesday Knight, who took over the role originated in A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors by Patricia Arquette. Call me crazy, but I’ve always thought that Knight did a superior job as Kristen, and though her time in the film wasn’t as long as some of the others, she added more to the character that I found to be one-dimensional in The Dream Warriors.

1- Nancy Wasn’T An Only Child in A Nightmare On Elm Street

Featured in the Elite Laserdisc for A Nightmare On Elm Street, this deleted scene featured a more fleshed out reason for the parents of Elm Street to have torched Freddy, as it’s revealed that Krueger had previously killed brothers and sisters of Nancy, Glen, Tina and Rod before getting murdered by the parents.
