I've been wanting to see "Paper Wedding" again for a long time; I saw the original on Canadian TV in 1989. I still remember the artistic quality of the scenes shot in the apartment - the decor - the lighting. I love the slow pace of this movie, and the fact that you almost "see" the main characters thinking; Geneviève Bujold is wonderful and very credible; Manuel Aranguiz is so believable, you'd think he might have undergone some of Pablo's trials. I would have liked to see this film restored for the DVD - maybe that is technically impossible when dealing with "made for TV" material. Although I enjoyed the movie, I was disappointed in the picture quality, I also did not like the fact that the subtitles were incorporated on the film; it would have been nice to have the standard DVD choice of removing them. Afterthought: the movie was released in France in 1990, that same year "Green Card" came out. I've always wondered if the idea for this film came from the much more superior "Paper Wedding".
