I do NOT believe that those right-wing ideologues who have the upper hand in America are pro-life at all! I saw the movie on TV December 3, 1989. Then, as now, I occupied apartment that is not ideal, but like the Coopers' place that burned, has been all that I could afford. I am Presbyterian, active in peacemaking and in singles programs (which include service projects like making casseroles for the homeless), and formerly taught Sunday School. Though I have now annuity fund and bonds from cash fund left by Mom when she died last year, and expect share of proceeds from sale of her home, I will NOT-- NOT-- NOT give up concern for the have nots. No Place Like Home shows that in our immature society, there is little care for the have nots. There are many claiming to be pro-life on grounds of wanting Roe v. Wade overturned, but THAT is NOT PRO-LIFE! REAL pro-life means seeing that ALL who ARE born into the world ARE able to live properly: affordable housing, access to health care, quality education, AND opportunity to earn PROPER LIVING by making difference in lives of others. When I saw the movie in 1989, Papa Bush was President; now his son, George W BOSH holds office, mainly because of immaturity of society. GROW UP, America!
