28 August 2000 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Actor Charlie Sheen is up in arms over movie memorabilia he lent the PLANET HOLLYWOOD restaurant chain - because they won't give it back to him. According to Charlie's manager Janice McKenna, they have repeatedly asked for the memorabilia back but so far have not seen any of it. The movie props include Sheen's baseball uniform he wore in Major League (1989) and his Platoon (1986) helmet. McKenna says, "These items were specifically on loan and we've been trying to get them back for over a year. We're steamed." »

Charlie Sheen Bowled Over By Auction Success

1 May 2000 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Actor Charlie Sheen is celebrating after his collection of baseball memorabilia raised thousands of dollars more than expected at auction - and caused frantic bidding among his celebrity pals. The Major League (1989) star, soon to take over from MICHAEL J. FOX on SPIN CITY, sold his impressive collection of baseball memorabilia at a telephone auction co-ordinated in New York Saturday. Sheen, who decided he no longer had any need for the collection - which includes the only existing uniform worn by baseball hero TED WILLIAMS during his record breaking 1941 season - was bowled over by seeing his possessions sell for up to three times their estimated value. MARTY APPEL at LELAND'S AUCTION HOUSE in New York says, "So far, it's been a really successful auction. The majority of the items went for much more than estimated. "We even had a lot of celebrities on the phone in bidding wars for some of the more interesting pieces. " The auction is the latest in a run of good news for Sheen who was given a clean slate last month when he was set free from his probation - for alcohol and drug offenses - 71 days early. »

Charlie Sheen Sells Off Baseball Memorabilia Collection

25 April 2000 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Actor Charlie Sheen is cleaning out his house and auctioning off his impressive baseball memorabilia collection. The Major League (1989) star and baseball fanatic, soon to take over from MICHAEL J. FOX on SPIN CITY, insists the sudden sale is not because he's stuck for cash - he just didn't think he needed the collection anymore. Among the exclusive items on offer are the only existing uniform worn by baseball hero TED WILLIAMS during his record breaking 1941 season and a ball autographed by seven of the eight players who conspired to throw the 1919 World Series. Sheen bought the ball in 1992 for $93, 000. The auction is to be held at Leland's auction house, New York, this Thursday and Friday. »
