Lady Gaga: 10 Most Outrageous Outfits

1 May 2013 5:08 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Rolling Stone journalist Neil Strauss once said ‘Lady Gaga is art – her art is not a mask, it is her life.’

The New Yorker Stefani Joanna Angelina Germanotta known commonly to the world as Lady Gaga rose to fame (incidentally after which she named her debut album) in 2008 as an artist, a pop and fashion icon and an equal rights activist for the gay/lesbian/transgender community.

She is often described as kooky and odd because of the way she chooses to express herself through fashion. But it’s this unique, non-conformist style which has rocketed her into contemporary popular culture relevance. She not only demands people’s attention and curiosity, she has created an entire following and fan base called ‘Little Monsters’ who collectively embrace being outcast from mainstream society and labelled weirdos.

Does Fame Have A Positive Or Negative Influence On An Artist’s Music?

13 March 2013 12:45 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

The very nature of fame means it has an incredibly potent effect on a person – we’ve seen it in both its positive and negative forms. For every inspiring story of overcoming adversity, there’s a couple of breakdowns, a few car crash stars whose star burned bright and burned out pretty damn quick.

In the end, though, when it comes to musicians, arguably the most divisive brand of fame-propelled humans that we regularly discuss, debate and deliberate over, the end product of their success, their music, really can be affected, one way or another, by fame. The question is: does fame have a positive or a negative influence on the artist and therefore their music?

For some artists, the position and status that fame brings has a positive boon on the artist’s work – that initial rush of recognition, the popularity of their work means deep down, that people like them, »

Gaga Fans Slam Madonna As 'One Of The Major Reasons For AIDS' Before GLAAD Appearance

5 March 2013 7:35 AM, PST | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

There's no end in sight for the longstanding Madonna-Lady Gaga feud -- at least as far as their fans are concerned.

Now a pack of "Little Monsters" are petitioning the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), requesting that Madonna not be allowed to present Anderson Cooper with the prestigious Vito Russo Award at the March 16 ceremony in New York.

Deeming GLAAD's decision to tap the Material Girl "an insult to a true gay rights activist like Lady Gaga," the Gaga fan blog Little Monster Artpop make an even more heinous suggestion, labeling Madge "one of the major reasons for AIDS."

"Back in the 1980's, she encouraged gay men to have unprotected sex," they write. "While she certainly didn't start the disease, she and her lack of morals helped it spread."

If GLAAD officials don't rethink their choice of having Madonna as a presenter, the group has vowed »

Meme: Train Cancels on Boy Scouts, Is Omar Sy Set To Play Northstar, and How Horny Is Aaron Carter?

We're liveblogging Days of Our Lives today and tomorrow.

I haven't given much thought to Aaron Carter in years, even when he tweets pictures of his enviable abs. But recently, his fans picked up on the fact that he's a horny young man, and made #AaronCarterHornyLevel a trending topic. Buzzfeed sat down with Aaron to discuss just how horny he was (varies between a 7 and 20 on a scale of 1-10), and what makes him horny. Big boobs and Demi Lovato seem to figure prominently. "So I don't know, I do love to get nasty at night."

Romania's International Women's Day honors women and their contribution to society, much like Mother's Day in the United States. Except they celebrate it with lap dances from male strippers. Beats the boring dinners we did when I was a kid.

Lady Gaga: A-rod was 'Born This Way' singer's surgery cheerleader

23 February 2013 10:47 AM, PST | Pop2it | See recent Pop2it news »

Lady Gaga is recovering from hip surgery for an injury that recently forced her to cancel her Born This Way Ball tour. The pop diva, who was born Stefani Germanotta, could no longer hide what ended up being a labral tear in her right hip once she got to the point where she could not walk.

Despite the nerves that inevitably come along with surgery, Gaga went in to the procedure completely assured, thanks to a pep talk from A-Rod.

Yep, Alex Rodriguez gave Gaga a pep talk when the pair ran into each other at the doctor's office. The New York Yankees third baseman and man about town (to say the least) shares not only the same injury with Gaga, but also the same surgeon. The New York Post reports A-Rod, who underwent surgery a few weeks prior, took some time to sooth the nerves of an anxious Gaga »

Lady Gaga took a moment on Wednesday evening to write a letter to her fans, thanking them for support after she underwent surgery.

She added, "Sometimes you are so brave that it terrifies me."

Mother Monster underwent surgery on Wednesday to repair a labral tear in her right hip, an injury that prompted the singer to cancel the remaining dates of her Born This Way Ball tour.

Howard Goodall's Story of Music; Being Human; Borgen – TV review

Apart from trying to be too cool, Howard Goodall pitches it just right – baroque on, dude

Ididn't write about Howard Goodall's Story of Music (BBC2, Saturday) last weekend because I was all tied up with Brian Cox, his massive smile of wonder and his even more massive numbers. It's Ok though, because a lot of the first chapter of Goodall's story was about very early music, which wasn't written down, let alone recorded, so no one knows what it sounded like.

Now we've reached the fertile and innovative 17th and 18th centuries it gets more interesting. Purcell, Vivaldi, Bach, Handel … baroque, basically, though Howard's not going to call it that. "There'll be no fancy jargon or misleading labels," he promises.

Instead he tries very hard – too hard sometimes? – to make classical music accessible. Which he does by constantly searching for links with popular culture. "Chord sequences beloved of composers around »

Justin Bieber is the most followed person on Twitter - Lady Gaga passes the torch

22 January 2013 12:18 PM, PST | Pop2it | See recent Pop2it news »

Move over Lady Gaga, because there's a new Twitter Monster in town. Justin Bieber finally passed the Mother Monster as the most followed person on Twitter, but there's just a narrow gap between the two of them.

At press time, Bieber had over 33,346,000 followers while Gaga had 33,339,000. It could be that her Little Monsters take this news as a challenge and try to close that 7,000 follower gap, or Bieber's fans could continue to thrive and dominate the Twittersphere.

It's clear that there are no hard feelings between Gaga and Bieber. She took to Twitter recently to congratulate Biebs on his growing fan base.

"So proud of @justinbieber and all the Beliebers!" she tweeted. "I'm only happy to see your fans growing in size, you all deserve it! Monsters support you!" »
