Best and Worst of Sundance: Guess which movies we never want to see again

30 January 2015 12:02 PM, PST | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Wow, what a Sundance! The 2015 edition of America's most prestigious film festival was once again full of standing ovations, slight controversies and late night bidding wars for films that will be headed your way very soon. And that's a major emphasis on why a throng of the nation's media head to Park City every year. By the end of the year films such as "Dope," "Me and Earl and the Dying Girl," "The Witch" and "Brooklyn" might be on your personal top 10 list. You likely will have caught documentaries such as "Going Clear," "Montage of Heck" and "How To Dance in Ohio" on HBO, "Dreamcatcher," "Listen to me, Marlon" and "Prophet's Prey" on Showtime, "The Hunting Ground" on CNN and "What Happened, Miss Simone" on Netflix. And notable pockets of the country will buzz about "The Overnight," "The D Train" and "Knock, Knock" (and not for the reasons you might »

DrDoom's Pitch for The Amazing Spider-man 3

23 January 2015 5:26 PM, PST | | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

They're bad movies, no doubt, and I still cannot stand them. However,  the current state of flux for the franchise due to the extremely negative response to The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has left fans exhausted, with many having become jaded by the constant rumours and hoping for official announcements soon. While of course I want Marvel Studios to take the Spider-Man film rights back from Sony, »

Showtime's David Nevins on the State of the Network - Press tour live-blog

12 January 2015 2:15 PM, PST | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

I'm not immediately sure what news might come out of Monday's (January 12) Television Critics Association press tour executive session with Showtime Entertainment President David Nevins, but Nevins is usually good for a frank glimpse into what's happening at the network. So click through and follow along. 2:15 p.m. Pt. Showtime has already given us Krispy Kreme and candy, so we may be wired for David Nevins. 2:20 p.m. I'd forgotten the possibility of "Twin Peaks" stuff here. 2:21 p.m. Nevins says this is arguably the best time to be involved with premium cable and to be covering it. He says he has no details to announce about over-the-top. But he says the network's biggest strength is the "richer, broader, more diverse slate of series." He'd giddy about Showtime Golden Globe nominations and Emmy nominations. And, of course, "The Affair" won two Golden Globes last night. He thanks »
