Part of a TV series called "Haute Tension" ," Retour A Malaveil" is a good MTV movie on its own.It tells the story of a young man who has served 12 years for something he 's never done.He is back to his native village (Malaveil),with only one aim in view:to unmask the real culprit. Then begins a tale of hate which blends present and past and will almost lead the innocent boy to madness.

In 1944,the country was set free:then "resistant fighters" turned up as the work was almost finished and "punished" the collaborators .Twenty years later, those events sparked off another tragedy. You will guess the "whodunit" long before the ending but the screenplay is well constructed and the director makes a good use of color(present) and black and white (past) .Besides ,the two Françoise (Christophe and Fabian) are excellent actresses and give their characters substance.
