Trivia

In promotional material such as Back to the Future Part II Behind-the-Scenes Special Presentation (1989) director, Robert Zemeckis explained that "hoverboards float on magnetic energy". He also added, "they've been around for years, it's just that parent groups haven't let toy manufacturers make them. But we got our hands on some and put them in the movie." He was only joking, of course, but interestingly enough, Mattel (whose logo appeared on the hoverboard props) soon found themselves overwhelmed with callers asking where they could buy one. Although they looked pretty convincing in the movie, the hoverboards were simply wooden props attached to the actors feet. To make the boards fly, the actors were suspended by cables, which were then erased during post-production. See more »

Goofs

When Marty sees George deck Biff, we see the Marty from Back to the Future running out to the parking lot. When he glances at the photo and splits, the couple he runs in to are completely different to the actors in the first movie and they don't say anything to each other, whereas they should have been seen to say 'Who is that guy?' 'That's George McFly.' 'THAT'S George McFly?' as they did in the first movie before Marty bumps in to them. Furthermore, when Lorraine is picked up off the floor by George, we see his hair is shaved very close at the back and sides, but in the next shot the new actor playing George who leads Lorraine away doesn't have closely shaved hair. Young Jennifer: How 'bout a ride, mister?
Marty McFly: Jennifer! Oh, man, are you a sight for sore eyes; let me look at you.
Young Jennifer: Marty, you're acting like you haven't seen me in a week.
Marty McFly: I haven't.

Crazy Credits

The theatrical version had a teaser for Back to the Future Part III (1990). Some later versions do not have a teaser at all, only showing "To Be Concluded", and skip to the credits. Some have "To Be Concluded" followed by "Back To The Future III". Some cable versions retain the teaser for Back To The Future Part III, but, of course, do not say "Coming Summer 1990". It was, however, added back to the film for its digital download and Blu-Ray versions. See more »

Back to the Future - the only '80s movie that's completely...timeless!
11 July 2006 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

I love the original movie, so don't get me wrong, but I have a special thing for really cool looking futuristic things. Especially if they're made out to look really interesting like in this sequel.

The story is still very good, the characters are still lovable and have some great lines, and the ending is superb even if it leaves you wanting for a little more. Interchanging between this movie and the last (even the next) were great twists and turns, probably still the best achievement i've seen properly executed in a film to date.

While the original is probably an eleven on my scale now, this one used to be my all time favorite one in the BTTF trilogy. And there's still a whole lot to love about this movie, even the kids today will probably appreciate how much fun this movie is even with all the flash and more advanced CG effects they have in their movies today.
