Goofs

Before Lindsey and Bud swim back from the disabled mini sub, she makes a point of mentioning how cold the water is. At the time of this movie, it was well known that people can be resuscitated after very long times without any oxygenation at all if submerged in cold water. It is thought to be due to the mammalian diving reflex. There have been documented examples of successful resuscitation after hours submerged in such cold water. However, it usually requires rewarming of the patient, hence the saying "the patient is not dead until they are warm and dead". They initially ended the resuscitation effort far too early under those conditions. Considering she was only in the frigid water for a short time, it is possible she warmed enough for the resuscitation effort to be successful. Therefore it was logical for them to be successful.
