Helen Hunt Files For Divorce

21 December 2000 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

To no one's surprise, actress Helen Hunt has filed for divorce from her actor husband Hank Azaria, citing irreconcilable differences in their 17-month-old marriage. Hunt's spokesman confirmed in August that the couple had been living apart for several months, but the official date of their separation remains to be determined, according to papers filed in Los Angeles Superior Court. In August, Hunt's publicist Stephen Huvane said the two performers were "still very good friends" and that the situation between them was "amicable." Hunt, 37, and Azaria, 36, dated for nearly five years before tying the knot in a small, private ceremony at their Los Angeles- area home in July, 1999. Hunt is currently in the top film in America, What Women Want (2000), and co-stars with Tom Hanks in Cast Away (2000), which opens Friday. Azaria is known as the voice of several characters on the animated Fox hit "The Simpsons" (1989) including Apu, Moe and Chief Wiggum. »

Krusty Was A Christian Clown Called Rusty Nails

24 October 2000 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

The Simpsons' Krusty the Clown is based on a real TV clown called Rusty Nails. Creator Matt Groening used to watch the "Christian clown" when he was a kid in Portland, Oregon, and was always confused why the nice guy had such a nasty name. He says, "I couldn't get past the idea that this was a nice clown with the scariest name possible, because you were told as a kid, 'Always avoid rusty nails.'" »
