The Simpsons is an animated sitcom about the antics of a dysfunctional family called the Simpsons (surprise surprise). Homer is the oafish unhealthy beer loving father, Marge is the hardworking homemaker wife, Bart is the ten year old underachiever (and proud of it), Lisa is the unappreciated eight year old genius, and Maggie is the cute, pacifier loving silent infant. As part of the many running jokes in the series, the location of the fictitious town of Springfield is never revealed. Whenever they locate the town on a map, for instance, we never see the map. Whenever someone says it out loud, the sound is muffled or masked by noise. The capitol of the state Springfield is located in is simply called 'Capitol City'. In the "Behind The Music" episode the state is mentioned but there are several versions of the show, each with a different state name (including Kentucky and Missouri), to keep the not-revealing-the-location-of-Springfield joke going. Springfield Elementary School is yellow in some episodes and
white in others, sometimes changing color multiple times in the same episode (later episodes corrected this continuity problem by making the school's official color yellow, and including a picture of the "old, white" school in Principal Skinner's office.) See more »

On the Halloween specials starting with II and with the exception of VI, the theme is played on an organ. When the Gracie Films logo appears, the "Shh!" Is replaced by a sound bite of a woman screaming and the accompanying jingle is played on a pipe organ. See more »
With all my collection of video tapes and d.v.d.s I seem to find myself digging through my Simpsons box, when I need something to watch. It would be hard to pick a favorite episode, because of so many. It would be even harder to pick a least favorite because there is very few that could be less appealing. But boring is one thing that the Simpsons could never be considered. The writers have changed ideas, episode structure, and kept the Simpsons on a continuous exciting adventure. Anytime of the day or no matter what seems to be the mood , the Simpsons is always satisfying to to view even over and over and hours on end.
