The Simpsons is an animated sitcom about the antics of a dysfunctional family called the Simpsons (surprise surprise). Homer is the oafish unhealthy beer loving father, Marge is the hardworking homemaker wife, Bart is the ten year old underachiever (and proud of it), Lisa is the unappreciated eight year old genius, and Maggie is the cute, pacifier loving silent infant. The Simpsons: Some Enchanted Evening (1990) was originally going to be the season premiere, however at the Gracie Films studio screening, producer James L. Brooks said of the animation "this is sh*t", which cleared the room and created a heated argument with Klasky-Csupo animation studio head Gabor Csupo, who countered with "maybe this sh*t isn't funny". An estimated 70% of the episode had to be redone which had several knock-on effects: There was major concern the show would be canceled if the next episode, The Simpsons: Bart the Genius (1990), came back in a similar state (luckily it did not), the Christmas episode The Simpsons: Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire (1989) was now to be the season premiere which in turn meant the show could not debut on Fox until December, and what's more the reordering of the air dates meant that Santa's Little Helper who now debuted in the "first" episode was mysteriously absent throughout most of the remainder of the season including this episode. There is also a noticeable difference between the old and new animation - perhaps most notably the scene where Marge is getting ready in front of the bedroom mirror talking to Lisa about Homer's dancing; Marge is hugely off-model and would be unrecognizable under normal circumstances. The delay had at least one positive effect however; it allowed time for Hank Azaria to overdub the original voice track for Moe (performed by Chris Latta), and by season two Azaria had become a regular member of the cast. Years later when Brooks and Csupo were both on-stage accepting an Emmy for "The Simpsons", Brooks jokingly whispered in his ear "maybe this sh*t isn't funny". The joke was taken in good humor as Csupo had long since admitted he was wrong about the whole affair. See more »
Fat Tony's real name changes from episode to episode, but this is probably intentional because it is common for Mafia hit men (in popular culture, and possibly in reality as well) to have many different identities. See more »
You wouldn't understand, Dad, you're not with it!
I was with it once! And then they changed what it was! And now what I'm with isn't it and what's it seems weird and scary to me! And it'll happen to you!

On the Halloween specials starting with II and with the exception of VI, the theme is played on an organ. When the Gracie Films logo appears, the "Shh!" Is replaced by a sound bite of a woman screaming and the accompanying jingle is played on a pipe organ. See more »
Out of every cartoon, Movie, play, and T.v show I've ever seen The Simpsons tops it all. the Simpsons is the funniest show Bar None. American Dad, Futurama, and Family guy come in close but in my opinion the Simpsons is better than all of them combined. I have seen every single episode and i own seasons one through five and have Simpsons posters and action figures.i have not found an episode that i did not like., some of my favorites are the valentines episode where Bart puts Homers Beer in the paint shakers, and "Das Bus" season 9 "O' Brother were art Thou?" season 2. and any episode from the sixteenth season. they have made it to over three hundred episodes and I'm betting on three hundred more. THE SIMPSONS WILL NEVER DIE!
