Storyline

The Simpsons is an animated sitcom about the antics of a dysfunctional family called the Simpsons (surprise surprise). Homer is the oafish unhealthy beer loving father, Marge is the hardworking homemaker wife, Bart is the ten year old underachiever (and proud of it), Lisa is the unappreciated eight year old genius, and Maggie is the cute, pacifier loving silent infant. Goofs

Fat Tony's real name changes from episode to episode, but this is probably intentional because it is common for Mafia hit men (in popular culture, and possibly in reality as well) to have many different identities. See more »

Crazy Credits

Many of the episodes include in-jokes during the credits, the Halloween specials change the cast and crews names to sound more morbid (E.g. Grave-Yeardly Smith). Sometimes the end credits theme is variated into something more thematic to the episode or spoofing a famous TV show or movie theme. The Gracie Films logo may have it's music changed to match the episode's theme, and a character may be saying something comical during the end credits. See more »

Pure genius
17 January 1999 | by (L.A. CA) – See all my reviews

The Simpsons is a show that has sustained ten years of constant humor. The stories have gradually become better and the second fiddle characters were getting more screen time which translates into a much more realized show. The pop culture references abound and delight those who can pick them out. My personal favorite is the Citizen Kane references in the episode called "Rosebud." Plus, anything with C. Montgomery Burns is hysterical. The guest stars aren't there as a "special appearance" touted by the networks. They actually work into the storyline, and that makes it all the more enjoyable. Where else can you see The Moody Blues acting like thugs in a Vegas casino?
