Ryan Seacrest Suggests 'American Idol' Should 'Just Move' to New York Following Reboot Announcement

10 May 2017 8:26 AM, PDT | Entertainment Tonight | See recent Entertainment Tonight news »

Ryan Seacrest has not yet confirmed or denied if he'll be hosting the American Idol reboot, but he's definitely aware that the show is officially returning to TV.

On Wednesday's Live With Kelly and Ryan, the 42-year-old TV star made a joke about Idol -- which he hosted for 15 seasons -- when talking about the GRAMMYs taking place in New York City next year.

Nothing how much easier that will be for him to cover the red carpet because he just moved to NYC, Seacrest quipped, "Just move American Idol, [that] would be so much easier!"

Last week, a source close to FremantleMedia -- the production company behind Idol -- told Et that it's "entirely possible to do American Idol in New York City."

‘You Win!’ Matthew Perry Relents in Childhood Feud with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau

10 May 2017 8:15 AM, PDT | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

Matthew Perry may have beat up Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau when the two were elementary school students at Rockcliffe Park Public School in Ottawa, but he is not looking for a rematch.

The 47-year-old actor made a visit to Live with Kelly and Ryan on Wednesday to promote his new off-Broadway play, The Edge of Longing. And it didn’t take long for his former fisticuffs to come up.

“I was 7, I think,” Perry recalled. “He was younger than I was. I think he had just excelled in a sport — he had beat me in a sport. And I »

‘American Idol’ Returns Next Season, Just Two Years After the ‘Farewell Season’ That Wasn’t

9 May 2017 4:41 AM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Some networks wait a lifetime for a moment like this.

ABC has tried for nearly 20 years to launch a hit music competition series. Now, it has finally acquired one: “American Idol,” which ended its run last year on Fox, will relaunch next spring on the network. Details are slim, including new judges and who will host. (“Idol” veteran Ryan Seacrest, now firmly a part of the ABC family as co-host of “Live with Kelly and Ryan,” was not mentioned in the press release.) But the network and producers FremantleMedia North America and Core Media Group made the announcement Tuesday morning.

ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey called “American Idol” a “pop-culture staple that left the air too soon,” while Ben Sherwood, co-chairman, Disney Media Networks and president, Disney/ABC, said the show “is an entertainment icon, and now it will air where it belongs, in ABC’s lineup of addictive fan »

ABC has finalized its deal with FremantleMedia North America and 19 Entertainment to revive “American Idol.” After a Fox cancellation that will really end up just being a one-season hiatus, the singing competition is set to return next season — albeit on a different network. Judges and a host for the new-look “Idol” will be announced at a later time, the Disney-owned broadcaster said in a Tuesday morning media release. When asked by TheWrap, a network rep was mum on whether Ryan Seacrest, who just last week joined the ABC-produced daytime talk show “Live With Kelly and Ryan,” is even a candidate to. »

‘American Idol’: ABC Confirms Plan to Revive Talent Competition Series

9 May 2017 4:34 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

ABC is the official new home of “American Idol.”

The broadcaster revealed Tuesday morning on “Good Morning America” that it has given a greenlight to a 16th season of the long-running music competition. The series order ends not only a process that saw multiple networks explore bringing the reality franchise to their air, but also a briefer-than-anticipated absence for a show that just a year ago celebrated its “farewell season.”

“Gma” anchors Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos offered few details about the planned revival. They said details such as the show’s host and judging panel were still to be determined, and there’s no word yet about a showrunner.

“America, get ready for the return of a bigger, bolder and better-than-ever ‘Idol,’ ” Disney/ABC TV Group president Ben Sherwood promised.

As rumors of “Idol’s” move to ABC spread, there’s been speculation about whether Ryan Seacrest would be able to return as host. Seacrest »

8 May 2017 12:13 PM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

American Idol” appears to be headed back to television this fall on ABC. But will longtime host Ryan Seacrest be part of the revival?

“No, I don’t know about that part yet,” Seacrest told his “Live With Kelly and Ryan” colleague Kelly Ripa on Monday’s show when she asked if he would return as “Idol” host. “We haven’t gotten that far. This was news to me, actually, last week. I had said at the end of the series, ‘Goodbye for now,’ hoping somewhere it would come back.”

Pressed by Ripa, Seacrest demurred, citing his heavy workload. “I don’t know if I can host it. Do you know the preparation I have to do for this show [‘Live’] every night?” Ripa responded by imploring him, “Yes you can!” and assuring him that she would lighten his “Live” prep responsibilities for episodes following “Idol” shoots.

Ryan Seacrest May Very Well Host American Idol Again

Ryan Seacrest is clearly one of if not the most busy men in all of show business.  He recently just landed the gig of hosting Live with Kelly which I assume will now be called Live with Kelly and Ryan.   He does all the award show red carpets.  The guy hosts New Year’s Eve in Times Square.  He’s got a podcast.  He’s on Access Hollywood or whatever one of those shows he’s on.  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.  I don’t think he’s really a human being.  This whole thing is a front for him really being

American Idol Return Near Deal at ABC

A version of this article originally appeared on EW.com.

ABC is near a deal to bring back American Idol.

The broadcaster is close to locking down the reality competition series to launch next spring.

Variety first reported that a “framework” for a deal was in place and that ABC beat out Idol‘s former network Fox and NBC to land the revival.

Fox, of course, launched the series in 2002 where it ran for 15 seasons, and during many of those Idol ranked as TV’s highest-rated show, a so-called “Death Star” that annihilated most competitors scheduled against it. But that »
