Bryan Cranston Watching Himself on Baywatch in 1989 Will Slay You

1 February 2016 9:40 AM, PST | POPSUGAR | See recent BuzzSugar news »

You're about to be even more obsessed with Bryan Cranston. The former Breaking Bad star appeared on the SAG Awards red carpet on Saturday and was treated to a clip of the performance that earned him his SAG card: a 1989 episode of Baywatch, of all things. Cranston, nominated for his role in Trumbo, cried through the whole clip, naturally. Ok, it's not particularly touching, but it is funny to think that once upon a time, the A-lister was just another actor struggling to make his way. The nostalgia! You probably know Bryan Cranston for his iconic role as Walter White of Breaking Bad fame. However, before landing the role, he paid the bills with obscure cameo gigs like many other working actors. Tonight on the SAG Awards red carpet, E! treated the viewers to one of those cameos that Cranston probably wishes was buried somewhere deep in the New Mexico desert. Cranston played along in good fun, faking tears and expressing that he couldn’t believe he never won an Emmy for that piece of work. We don’t understand it either Bryan. For all the Baywatch aficionados out there,

Bryan Cranston is an amazing actor, and he just proved it (yet again) on the SAG Awards red carpet. Well, we like to have fun on the red carpet, so we decided to reunite Cranston with one epic throwback clip of his TV guest appearance on Baywatch from the '80s, and he just couldn't help but get emotional. The studios have had a busy day changing release dates left and right, with everything from Star Wars: Episode VIII to Jumanji getting new slots on the release calendar. Paramount has also decided to give their highly-anticipated Baywatch a new release date, slotting it for May 19, 2017. The Baywatch remake doesn't currently have any direct competition, but this was the same date the studio had set for Terminator Genisys 2, but that movie was just taken off the release calendar.

In related news, the cast of Paramount's Baywatch remake is coming together nicely, with a strong supporting cast surrounding stars Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron. ‘Terminator’ Sequel Pulled from 2017; Trilogy Unlikely

20 January 2016 2:44 PM, PST | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Paramount Pictures has set a May 19, 2017, release date for Dwayne Johnson’s “Baywatch,” replacing “Terminator 2” — which has been dropped from the schedule.

Terminator: Genisys,” the franchise’s reboot starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Clarke and Emilia Clarke,” grossed only $89 million domestically last summer before slightly rebounding overseas to $350 million. It was also a misfire with critics, scoring a weak 26% fresh rating on RottenTomatoes.

Skydance, which co-financed “Terminator: Genisys,” had originally planned a new trilogy with Paramount but said in October were “re-adjusting” after the disappointing ticket sales.

Paramount announced in 2014 that it had the dated “Terminator 2” for May  19, 2017, and “Terminator 3” on June 29, 2018. Under rules, North American rights to The Terminator franchise would revert back to creator James Cameron in 2019 — 35 years after the original “Terminator” was released.

As for “Baywatch,” Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario, Kelly Rohrbach and newcomer Ilfenesh Hadera are starring with Johnson in the  movie reboot of the 1990s television show “Baywatch. »
