Pamela Anderson's Son Is Smokin' Hot, and We Need to Talk About It

11 June 2017 9:25 AM, PDT | Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news »

Pamela Anderson was in good company when she attended Sea Shepherd's 40th anniversary charity gala in La on Saturday with her son, Brandon Lee. The pair made a seriously fierce duo as they made their way down the red carpet, and Pamela couldn't help but beam while looking over at Brandon as they posed for pictures. The 21-year-old son of the former Baywatch actress and rocker Tommy Lee is already part of a famous family, but it's clear that he's starting to bust out as a star in his own right. Not only has he already walked in several Dolce & Gabbana runway shows, but he has also starred in the brand's campaign and even attended the Met Gala for the first time ever this year. We can't wait to see what else Brandon has in store for 2017! RelatedIt's Important That We Address How Hot Pamela Anderson's Son Is »

Box Office Democracy: Baywatch

7 June 2017 12:00 PM, PDT | Comicmix.com | See recent Comicmix news »

The best part of Baywatch was that everyone on screen seemed completely invested in making it a good movie.  It isn’t a good movie— it isn’t even particularly close to being a good movie— but the cast is willing to push as hard as they can to make it better.  Baywatch is elevated from the train wreck I’m sure it is on the page in to a simply bland, kind of mediocre, film.  Baywatch is a reasonably charming medley of punchless comedy, unintelligible story, and a generous amount of scantily clad pretty people.  It’s the kind of movie to see on an exceptionally hot day, or if your first choice movie is sold out and you’ve already put in so much effort to park at the mall.

I paid careful attention to the story in Baywatch and I’m still not entirely sure what was going on. »

Paramount Pictures Launches New Production Division Headed by Brian Robbins

7 June 2017 11:26 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Looking to ramp up production, Paramount is launching a Paramount Players Division with veteran producer and executive Brian Robbins in charge.

Paramount Pictures Chairman and CEO Jim Gianopulos, who took over the studio in March, made the announcement Wednesday. Robbins will work with Viacom’s Nickelodeon, MTV, Comedy Central and Bet operations to generate projects while the new division focuses on contemporary properties.

Robbins founded digital media company Awesomeness and headed it up for five years. He will serve as president of Paramount Players, reporting to Gianopulos and joining the studio later this month.

Paramount has lagged behind the competition in box office returns and in creating the kind of global franchises that are prized by studios. Its top franchise is Michael Bay’s Transformers, with its latest film “Transformers: The Last Knight” opening on June 21. The studio is teamed with Tom Cruise for a sixth “Mission: Impossible,” opening July »

The Surprising Way Jason Momoa's Upbringing Inspires His Film Projects

6 June 2017 12:20 PM, PDT | Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news »

A post shared by Jason Momoa (@prideofgypsies) on Dec 13, 2016 at 2:31pm Pst For a celebrity as widely admired (and crushed on) as Jason Momoa, the actor is exceptionally private. He's active on Instagram, but Jason rarely steps into the spotlight unless he's attending a premiere or promoting an upcoming film. So if you've ever wondered about the actor, father, and husband's background, it might be hard to find answers to your questions. Luckily for us all, Jason has revealed snippets about his upbringing through interviews over the years - and the big picture of his life reveals a lot about the actor's career choices. Born in Hawaii to a native Hawaiian father and a mixed-European mother, Jason was actually raised far from his island origins in Norwalk, Iowa. Jason's mom raised him as a single parent, and his Iowan childhood resulted in a love of the outdoors, culminating in »

Earlier this month, as part of a promotion for the Baywatch movie, influencer Logan Paul teamed up with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson for a web series on Johnson’s YouTube channel. In the series, called The Rock And Logan Paul’s Summer Saga, Paul attempts to join the Baywatch squad with help from Johnson, but ultimately ends up falling in love with his co-star, Alexandra Daddario.

The series culminates with a music video called The Song Of The Summer, which has clocked nearly 5 million views thus far on Johnson’s channel, Seven Bucks Digital Studios. The song features appearances from rapper Desiigner and Baywatch veteran David Hasselhoff. In the hilariously surreal and psychedelic clip, Paul finds the girl of his dreams -- only to have her stolen away by Desiigner and Hasselhoff. Baywatch Review

21 Jump Street has a lot to answer for. Now, I know big screen remakes of old t.v. shows are nothing new, but the success of Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s R-Rated, meta comedy, has given rise to a number of imitators who have grabbed the wrong end of the stick, thinking incredibly blue language and gross out humour is the way to go. The latest movie up to bat is Baywatch, a show that people only remember because of David Hasselhoff, Pamela Anderson, and that one joke from Friends. While you never call it a t.v. classic, the original show was cheesy, fun camp about lifeguards whose main skill was slow motion running, but director Seth Gordon (Identity Thief, Horrible Bosses) forgoes all that, upping the raunch and saddling it with generic R-Rated humour that never manages to hit the mark. Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron share the spotlight as Mitch Buchannon, »

‘Pirates’ Disappoints and ‘Baywatch’ Sank: Why This Is the Wrong Kind of Record-Setting Memorial Day Weekend

28 May 2017 2:03 PM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” (Disney) was an easy #1 for the holiday weekend. And considering domestic franchise fatigue, and much stronger foreign results, it’s hardly a failure. (The same can’t be said for the stumbling Paramount and “Baywatch.”)

However, both fell short of even managed expectations. And with some really ugly drops among holdovers, one of the weakest holiday weekends in decades — and easily, the worst in adjusted grosses for the century.

One reason is Memorial Day is no longer the must-have date for theaters, but that’s been the case for years. So it’s no excuse for the overall weakness, which suggests some deep-rooted issues that continue to plague the industry.

The Top 10

1. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (Disney) New – Cinemascore: A-; Metacritic: 39; Est. budget: $230 million

$62,179,000 in 4,276 theaters; PTA (per theater average): $14,451,000; Cumulative: $62,179,000

‘Long Strange Trip’ Gets Box Office Boost from Deadheads

28 May 2017 10:12 AM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

This Memorial Day weekend at the specialty box office is dominated by niche releases without much crossover theatrical appeal, often available for home viewing. The strongest performer:  Sundance entry “Long Strange Trip: The Untold Story of the Grateful Dead” (Abramorama), which opened in two cities, combining Thursday night event shows and full-week dates to overcome its four-hour running time.

While “The Tree of Life,” “Moonrise Kingdom” and “Before Midnight” all opened on this date, since 2013 top distributors have chosen not to launch major releases over the three-day holiday.

June will bring some top releases to flesh out a slow schedule, including Sofia Coppola’s Cannes success “The Beguiled” (Focus Features). Cannes competition films from Bong Joon Ho (“Okja”) and Noah Baumbach (“The Meyerowitz Stories”) will hit Netflix and select day-and-date theaters in June, and sometime after that, respectively.

Box Office: ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ Hooks No. 1, ‘Baywatch’ Belly Flops

28 May 2017 8:35 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” is sailing into first place at the domestic box office this weekend, but the story the numbers dictate is not one of swashbuckling heroics.

Johnny Depp’s fifth outing as Jack Sparrow is looking at a three-day total of $62.2 million from 4,276 locations, and a four-day holiday weekend sum of $77 million. If not for international appeal, that would be a let down for a movie riding on a $230 million production budget.

Film Review: ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

The first place finish also can’t cover up a serious case of franchise fatigue. “Dead Men Tell No Tales” is the lowest opening for a Pirates movie apart from the original, which earned over $46 million in its first weekend (and was also the only installation approved by critics). ‘Baywatch’ Origin Story: How One Lifeguard Turned His Dream Into A Hassle That Paid Hoff

28 May 2017 7:51 AM, PDT | Indiewire Television | See recent Indiewire Television news »

Gregory Bonann was a lifeguard at Will Rogers State Beach in 1977 when he helped two children who were caught in a riptide. That rescue would ultimately change his life – and the face of television, setting the stage for the eventual “Baywatch” juggernaut.

Now, with the new feature adaptation of “Baywatch” in theaters this weekend, it’s time to revisit the unusual story of how the lifeguard show made it on the air – ultimately producing 242 episodes before ending its run in 2001.

It all started because it turns out Bonnan had saved the children of Stu Erwin, an executive at Mtm – the independent production company behind series like “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and “The Bob Newhart Show,” and run by legendary exec Grant Tinker.

While visiting Mtm’s offices in Studio City, Bonann pitched Erwin on a drama about lifeguards. The company passed, but Bonann took the opportunity to learn all about the TV biz. »
