Superb animated film from the early days (circa: Akira)
6 August 2001 | by (Victoria, BC) – See all my reviews

A lot of the people who were involved with 'Doomed Megalopolis' were also involved in the definitive anime film 'Akira'. That fact alone allowed me to justify springing $30 for each of the four casettes in the set. At first, I was expecting good. After watching the movies, however, I was amazed that this series is not more popular than it is. It is based in ancient Japan, and involves the spirit of an ancient warlord coming back to torment Japan. The characters are excellent and the plot and character development is superb. Watching this series reminds me of watching the Godfather, in that each episode falls at a different time frame than the rest, so it gives it a very spanning and epic feel to the story.

Check it out, if you are a fan of anime, you will love it.
