Two or three years ago, my dad got me a beaten and worn copy of Remarque's The Black Obelisk. It is one of my favorite novels, and I'm surprised that it's so obscure in the English-speaking world. Here, people only know Remarque because of All Quiet on the Western Front, but I prefer much of his later work. If anyone has seen this movie, I'd like to know how it was on screen. I've always wondered what a movie version of The Black Obelisk would be like.
