One of the funniest films featured on Mystery Science Theater 3000 in the Emmy® Award nominated show's 11-year run, Space Mutiny is a hilariously bad sci-fi epic that's guaranteed to have you in stitches. Combine a wardrobe of spandex and tinfoil; a set boasting AstroTurf® and spray-painted floor buffers; and special effects that, well, aren't so special, and you've got one of the most hysterical cheeseball movies to ever come out of the '80s. Grab your friends and have a riot with this underground cult hit! Written by Echo Bridge Home Entertainment

Did You Know?

Aware that the numerous windows with daylight pouring through would spoil the illusion of the Southern Sun actually being in space, cinematographer Vincent G. Cox used color filters to give the sunlight an orange-red look, and asked David Winters to insert a line about how the "windows" were actually part of the Southern Sun's engines and/or reactor system. Unfortunately, Cox's efforts were in vain, as the film processing lab mistakenly corrected the sunlight back to its original color, and Winters' replacement, Neal Sundstrom neglected to film any explanation as to what the windows were doing there. When she escapes and is shown running up a ladder a few seconds later, the high-heeled boots have changed into stylish flat boots that clearly could not have come from the guard. See more »

Go! Go! Go! Away from this trash!
31 July 1999 | by (L.A. CA) – See all my reviews

Run, don't walk! Use those pneumatic catapults that launch jumpsuited terrorists through the air to escape this drivel. This movie shows just how limiting a small budget and a lack of imagination is. Footage lifted from Battlestar Galactica is edited into something that resembles a story. Can't really tell. There's a large slab of beef walking around that's supposed to be our hero. Santa Claus commands this barge with the help from Sting. His daughter looks like Sheri Lewis gone bad and they fight the evil Calgon! Watch this one on MST and watch for the dead girl who comes back to life and resumes her post on the bridge.
