ABC Family is bringing back the scares for the 14th year in a row with their 13 Nights of Halloween. This has become a staple of my October screening, and there are a lot of great inclusions this year. It may seem a bit repetitive, and you may feel like Tim Burton has taken over, but you don’t want to miss out on some of these offerings – especially Coraline – and it’s a fun mix.

We know a lot of readers are the parents of budding young horror fans, and to help you plan a frighteningly fun Halloween season for your little rugrats (and yourselves, too), we have the full lineup of ABC Family's 13 Nights of Halloween, which runs October 19-31.

ABC Family scares up 13 Nights Of Halloween for the 14th consecutive spine-tingling year, with programming filled with chills and thrills as you count down to Halloween. The popular programming event, starting Friday, October 19, and concluding on Wednesday, October 31, features a brand new episode of "Pretty Little Liars" featuring special guest "glampire" Adam Lambert and the season finale of "Switched at Birth." The stunt will also include the basic cable premiere of The Sorcerer's Apprentice, the ABC Family feature film premiere of Monster House and Poltergeist III and a massive mix of Halloween-themed programming airing for the 13 nights leading up to Halloween. »

‘Poltergeist’ Remake Has Sam Raimi As Producer!

Tobe Hooper’s haunted house classic Poltergeist is another horror film set for the remake treatment. But this time Michael Bay and his Platinum Dunes company are, thankfully, not the ones in charge. MGM has confirmed that Evil Dead director Sam Raimi will produce their new remake. The film will not be the only cult horror favourite that Raimi is involved with in a producing capacity, he is also overseeing a reboot of his own Evil Dead but directed by Fede Alverez.

The original 1982 Poltergeist is still considered one of the finest spooky stories of all time, and went on to spawn two sequels. Steven Spielberg served as producer on the film and many of the actors involved in the making still insist that he should have had his name as director, going so far to say The Texas Chainsaw Massacre helmer Hooper, did very little on the picture. Following rumors earlier today that he might direct the project, The Hollywood Reporter has now confirmed that Sam Raimi has, indeed, boarded MGM's upcoming remake of Poltergeist, but is doing so in a producer-only capacity alongide Nathan Kahane and Roy Lee.

The original film was directed by Tobe Hooper and released in 1982 with Steven Spielberg producing and told the story of a malevolent spectral force that tries to take daughter of a Californian family. It spawned two sequels, Poltergeist II: The Other Side in 1986 and Poltergeist III in 1988.
