The eighth annual National High School Musical Theatre Awards, also known as the Jimmy Awards, took place June 27 at the Minskoff Theatre, honoring the best of the best in musical theater performance from 31 schools across the country. Tony nominee Zachary Levi (“She Loves Me”) hosted the inspirational ceremony, where 62 hopefuls sang Broadway-inspired tunes, including a number featuring songs from Broadway’s “On Your Feet!” and an opening medley that combined moments from the new and the classic: “Hamilton,” “Waitress,” “Chicago,” and more. Eight talented finalists then delivered solo performances for the chance to win coveted awards.  Top acting honors for the evening went to Josh Strobl of Los Angeles, who won best actor singing “Maria” from “West Side Story,” and Amina Faye of Charlotte, North Carolina, who won best actress with her performance of “A New Life” from “Jekyll and Hyde.” Best performance in an ensemble went to Devon McCleskey, »

'Game of Thrones' Recap: Jon Snow Watch Ends, Stark Watch Begins

And now his watch has ended. Rip, Shaggydog.

In "Game of Thrones" Season 6, Episode 3, "Oathbreaker," Jon Snow quit the post he took an oath to keep for life, saying his watch as Lord Commander had ended. Because Jon Snow is dead. So who is he now? It's a loaded question. It's a very important question. And it's a question that only just started to be addressed in this big bad tease of an episode.

Jon kept the job just long enough to see the people who stabbed him to death be hanged to death, with little hope of being resurrected. (Pause for an unpopular opinion: Olly was a traitor for helping to kill Jon, but the wildlings killed his entire family and it's understandable that he felt betrayed by Jon supporting them. Olly, I get you. Everyone else can go ahead and get mad.)

‘Real Sports,’ ‘This American Life’ Among Peabody Awards Winners

This American Life’s” exploration of desegregation and HBO’s “Real Sports with Bryan Gumbel’s” investigation of the ivory trade are among the winners of the coveted Peabody Awards, which recognize excellence in television and radio.

Other winners in the news, radio/podcast, web, and public service category include PBS News Hour’s “Desperate Journey,” BBC’s “European Migrant Crisis,” and NPR News’ “Secret Mustard Gas Experiments.” The full list of the Peabody 30 winners will be unveiled throughout this week.

Peabody Awards Honor ‘Daily Show’ & David Letterman, Name Finalists (Exclusive)

The Daily Show With Jon Stewart” and former late-night host David Letterman will be among the honorees at the 75th annual Peabody Awards, Variety has learned exclusively.

In addition, 60 finalists have been set by the awards’ board of jurors. From that field, 30 winners — the Peabody 30 — will be selected. Those winners will be revealed beginning next week and honored at the Peabody Awards ceremony in New York May 21.

Among the finalists are ABC’s “Black-ish” and “Fresh Off the Boat,” FX’s “Fargo,” Amazon’s “Transparent” and “Catastrophe,” HBO’s “The Leftovers” and “Veep,” Showtime’s “Listen to Me Marlon,” Netflix’s “Jessica Jones” and “Master of None,” USA’s “Mr. Robot” and Lifetime’s “UnReal.”

The first group of winners will be announced April 19 on Facebook Live. Subsequent rounds of winners will be revealed April 21 on NBC’s “Today” and April 26 on Facebook Live.
