Don Rickles To Reprise His Role As Mr. Potato Head For Pixar’s Toy Story 4

24 July 2015 8:19 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Whether you’re still harboring a small feeling of dread after Pixar announced plans to continue its toys-to-life animated series with another installment, or you’re remaining optimistic, Toy Story 4 is happening. With Tom Hanks and Tim Allen already on board – reprising their roles as Woody and Buzz Lightyear, respectively – it’s now been confirmed that Don Rickles will return as the grouchy yet loveable Mr. Potato Head.

In an interview with Closer Weekly, the 89-year-old comedian confirmed that he will indeed return for the fourth entry in the beloved series, revealing that he was once skeptical about Pixar’s concept for Toy Story, and it took head honcho John Lasseter to convince him of the story’s innate charm before putting pen to paper almost two decades ago.

“They just signed me to do the fourth Toy Story. We start [work on it] in September, and I’m very delighted with that. »

'Toy Story 4': Don Rickles Will Return as Mr. Potato Head

22 July 2015 6:45 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Toy Story 3 had long been called the final film in the franchise by Disney and Pixar. It didn't look like another feature film would happen, with Woody, Buzz and the rest of the toy box characters shuffled off to the land of Pixar shorts. But Pixar surprised everyone in November of last year when the animated sequel Toy Story 4 was officially announced. Tom Hanks and Tim Allen have been attached to the follow-up as far back as 2010, when there wasn't supposed to be another movie. None of the other voice cast members have ever been confirmed. But that changes today. Yes, everyone's favorite grump Mr. Potato Head will return. And legendary comedian Don Rickles will be back to provide his voice. The 89-year-old actor had this to say about his return.

"They just signed me to do the fourth Toy Story. We start [work on it] in September, and I'm very delighted with that. »

Musicians Union Sues Sony Over Michael Jackson’s ‘This Is It’

8 July 2015 10:00 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

The American Federation of Musicians is suing Sony Music Entertainment for allegedly violating its contract in the Michael Jackson documentary “This Is It.”

The suit, filed in federal court in New York, alleges that the artists were misled to record work for “This Is It” with the understanding that they were working on a phonographic record instead of a film score.

Sony had no immediate response to a request for comment.

“The Sound Recording Labor Agreement, which Sony has signed, covers only recording sessions for records—and prohibits recording film scores,” the union said.

Afm International President Ray Hair said Sony allegedly refused to sign a letter allowing them to use the Afm Motion Picture Agreement for this recording session. As a result, the union asserted, musicians have been unable to collect residuals on the film.

The film, directed by Kenny Ortega, grossed over $260 million worldwide.

Film Review: ‘Any Body Can Dance 2′

18 June 2015 7:02 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

All that glitters may not be gold, but whatever it is, it’s sure to be found somewhere in “Any Body Can Dance 2,” the insanely exuberant sequel to 2013’s Bollywood/hip-hop 3D dance extravaganza that handily trumps that film’s quotient of day-glo colors, tsunamis of sweat/feathers/confetti/sequins, and acrobatic footwork that scoffs at gravity the way a pubescent teen does at an overprotective parent. There’s nothing new under the stage lights here, in a competition/redemption narrative that seems to have been spat out by a screenplay bot after being fed copies of “Step Up,” “Magic Mike” and “Stand and Deliver”; but especially during its first half, the movie’s onscreen gyrations will brook no dissent. Few sequels are so keenly aware of exactly who their target audience is and what they want, which should ensure that this Disney/Utv Studios production shatters its predecessor’s $7 million worldwide gross. »

Fictional Frights: Sean Keller’s “Red Noise”

5 June 2015 3:02 PM, PDT | iconsoffright.com | See recent Icons of Fright news »

Sean Keller is a jack of all trades, and if you disagree with that statement, chances are that you don’t know the guy. One helluva singer/songwriter, a screenwriter who has written for horror legends Dario Argento (Giallo) and John Carpenter (the Great L.A. Gothic, which sadly fell through), Nicolas Cage (Keller co-wrote one of Cage’s best films in recent years, Rage), and is continually working and writing with fervor. Did we mention he was also on Jeopardy once?

While we were planning on originally kicking off our Fictional Frights column with my drugged out race to the death, “I’m Tired of Dying,” when Icons of Fright friend Keller sent us one of the most rock n’roll horror stories around, “Red Noise“, we couldn’t resist but to kick things off with one hell of a story. So, put on your leather boots, dust off »

‘Mad Men’ Live Read in Perfect Harmony with Finale

17 May 2015 10:44 PM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

As “Mad Men” closes its accounts for the last time, AMC and Film Independent found a unique way to celebrate the Madison Avenue period drama that fans have loved (and sometimes mocked) for seven seasons: Invite Jason Reitman to direct a stage reading of one of the show’s most iconic episodes.

On Sunday night, fans gathered at the Ace Hotel Theatre to watch a reading of the “The Wheel,” the show’s very first season finale in 2007 that earned series creator Matthew Weiner and Robin Veith an Emmy award nomination.

The cast of readers was clearly made up of fans. Kevin Pollack, shoes in hand, appeared on stage to read the part of Bert Cooper (played by Robert Morse on the show) while Colin Hanks — who actually appeared in season two of the show — came with a drink in hand to play Jon Hamm’s boozing Don Draper. The Incredible Hulk Revisited: “Leave Me Alone”

21 April 2015 11:00 AM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

[With Avengers: Age of Ultron opening next Friday, I’m taking a look back at the Marvel Cinematic Universe.  These articles do not contain spoilers for unreleased Marvel movies. If you know any spoilers about the unreleased Marvel movies, please do not post them in the comments section.] The Incredible Hulk is a mediocre film, and it’s also one of the most significant in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (McU). It’s a movie you can’t discuss without the phrase “Technically part of.” Incredible Hulk is so vastly different than any other McU movie that it inadvertently highlights the distinct personality that would come from all future Marvel films. As an individual picture, Incredible Hulk is fairly unremarkable, but as part of the McU, it’s constantly fascinating. Before the movie even begins, it speeds through an origin story, so it functions as a sequel and a reboot. No one wants to be reminded of 2003’s Hulk and technically we don’t really need to go through the whole process again, although we’re shortchanged when it comes to letting us know who Bruce Banner (Edward Norton) is before his transformation and it diminishes his relationship with »
