With our British TV schedules clogged up by karaoke singing, celebrities dancing and Z-listers eating bugs in the jungle, it's come to the time of year where we desperately look to the Us for something to save us from reality TV overload.
Keep reading for five new Us series that we're seriously excited about over the next 12 months.
1. Mob City
Starting in the Us next month on TNT and coming to the UK in 2014 on Fox UK, this gangster drama immediately caught our attention when we saw The Walking Dead duo Frank Darabont and Jon Bernthal teaming up.
This six-part drama could be very, very special.
Hype can sometimes kill a show before it's even started, »
ITV's grisly serial killer drama started off exploring the Ripper story in a modern-day context, but then managed to move on. Can it expand on its winning formula with series four?
What motivates a serial killer? In pop culture, they often seem to be slicing and dicing their way toward some sort of self-improvement. Thomas Harris and the various movie adaptations of his novel Red Dragon helped popularise a certain stereotype: the lethal wingnut staging elaborate murder dioramas to transform themselves into someone, or something, else. But in ITV's Whitechapel – which kicks off its fourth series tonight – it's not just the stab-happy antagonists who are obsessed with a viscera-spattered makeover. It's the show itself. In the course of the previous three series, it has been systematically transformed.

Jack (Tom Cruise) repairs drones that patrol hydro-stations on an alien-infested, war-torn Earth. It's a good gig: Jack's got a cool spaceship and Victoria (Andrea Riseborough), his gorgeous pair of eyes and ears back at the house/base station. Victoria has Jack's back (via video and audio feed) when he's out traipsing around a nuked-out New York City fixing robots. In addition to their working relationship, Jack and Victoria are an item, but they don't really know why, though it seems to work out (hot showers together and dips in the groovy sky pool). Jack appears content in the beginning, but memories are lurking in the shadows, memories that plant seeds of doubt and curiosity regarding not only the origins of the alien war, but of the origins of Jack. Matters only get more complicated when a spacecraft crashes nearby, carrying a cargo that intensifies Jack's connection to his past, »

Jack's back - at the Oscars. Legendary actor Nicholson will join Dustin Hoffman as presenters at Sunday's Academy Awards. Both stars are 75. "Between the two of them, Jack Nicholson and Dustin Hoffman have created more iconic characters than any other pair of actors in the world," says a statement from show producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. "Their participation in this year's Oscars completes a list of presenters and performers that truly represents that great breadth and depth of acting talent in film today." Other presenters include Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Salma Hayek Pinault, Melissa McCarthy, Liam Neeson and John Travolta. »
Has there been an episode of Revenge so far where giant secrets aren't revealed to the sounds of heavy violin music? Tonight was certainly no exception to this formula.
"Collusion" put Emily and Aiden's missions - and therefore Emily and Aiden - at odds, while revealing key information regarding the Initiative.
Stonehaven's role was made clear tonight, as was that of Carrion. Stonehaven is a disaster relief firm. Carrion is a program that creates disasters. Both are necessary for whatever it is The Initiative has planned.
Yes, the plot has thickened. Again. But in true Revenge fashion, let's rewind about an hour to the beginning of "Collusion."
Daniel, ever eager, asks Emily to lunch. For oysters. Which are an aphrodisiac. Way to take it slow, Daniel. The oysters are in L.A. so instead of flying in the oysters, he takes Emily to them. But lunch isn't the only reason for the trip. »
