UK Blu-ray Release Details/Cover Art for Squirm, Lifeforce, House of Usher, Deranged

4 May 2013 11:37 AM, PDT | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

While we’e been covering many of the Scream Factory releases for our Us readers, Arrow Video has been releasing horror classics in the UK for a while now and they recently announced their next set of Blu-ray releases. Take a look at release details, cover art, and bonus features for The Fall of the House of Usher, Lifeforce, Deranged, and Squirm. We’ve also included details for Motel Hell, which we covered earlier this week.

Motel Hell: “It takes all kinds of critters to make Farmer Vincent fritters!” cackle the brother-and-sister team behind the finest smoked meats in the county. They also run the friendly Motel Hello (the ‘o’ in the neon sign sometimes goes on the blink), and no matter how many times you’ve seen Psycho or The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, you can be sure that everything will be perfectly above board here as Vincent »

Manchester anticipates a Grimm Easter

26 March 2013 | eyeforfilm.co.uk | See recent eyeforfilm.co.uk news »

Easter may be a time for chocolate eggs and bunnies in some places, but in Manchester it's a time for enjoying some of the best recent independent horror films. Grimmfest are running a special event at the Plaza which will keep fans shivering even if the weather improves.

The action kicks off tonight with bloody but affectionate documentary Slice And Dice: The Slasher Film Forever, introduced by director Calum Waddell and followed by a rare screening of Sam Raimi/Bruce Campbell slasher film Intruder. Later in the festival there's Entity, a creepy mystery about bodies discovered in the Siberian taiga, whose creators will be talking live about low budget filmmaking; and there's more trouble in the woods in underground teen hit I Didn't Come Here To Die.

Early David Cronenberg favourites The Brood and Scanners, recently remastered, round off the festival, which will also feature prize giveaways. And for those lef wanting more, »

Interview: Andrea Albin talks Die, Maniacs, Die! and Fatality Fest

23 March 2013 12:39 PM, PDT | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

If you regularly keep up on horror news, you may be familiar with Andrea Albin from her past work as a journalist for a number of horror publications or her talent management company. Late last year, it was announced that she teamed up with Scott Spiegel for a new feature, titled Die, Maniacs, Die!, and I recently had a chance to learn more about the upcoming movie and a new horror convention she’s working on.

You started writing for a number of horror publications and eventually began representing talent through your own management firm. That’s not the usual path I see journalists take in the industry. Can you tell me how this all came about?

Andrea Albin: It just felt right. I owned the management firm before I started writing, and my husband and I did it together so he could handle my screenwriting business. Anyone who works »

'The Vampire Diaries' 'Stand By Me' rips our hearts out: Nina Dobrev kills it, and 9 more things to talk about

21 February 2013 7:54 PM, PST | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

We probably should've seen this coming months ago, when Elena declared that Jeremy was the only thing keeping her together -- because this is "The Vampire Diaries," and this show never misses an opportunity to make its characters desperate and miserable. Since the cast had already revealed in multiple interviews that Jeremy's death was permanent, I figured tonight's episode might be a bit of a wash -- what's the use in an episode about trying to save someone's life if we know he's been sent packing? -- but I was wrong.

When the talents of Julie Plec and Nina Dobrev combine, anything is possible, and tonight's episode, "Stand By Me," was undeniably the show's best one yet. It proves that the strengths of "The Vampire Diaries" lie in the emotional connections and the family bonds, not the romantic dalliances or will-they-won't-they 'shipper-bait. There's a lot to talk about here, so let's dig in. »
